Loved the country doctor! The country doctor played a vital part in America before hospitals became more plentiful. The country doctors were a godsend to those not living in the city! What a joy seeing Francis the talking mule! I loved the movies as a child. One mannerly mule in the studio!

Oh no, Mr. Katz sells Snuff.. My grandmother used to dip snuff as they called it. She came to visit us once when I was a kid and she stayed in the room with me back in the early 1960's. I had to go to the neighborhood store to get her Peach snuff.

Driving a garbage truck is a SERVICE: there is no PRODUCT. When Daly allowed that there WAS a PRODUCT, the panel was misled, though they did get it right

Baskerville22 I've been wondering if you'll ever post something other than inane and negative comments about this pioneering television program?

8/3/52: Francis the Talking Mule, mystery guest. (!!!) [Arlene Francis, Dorothy Kilgallen, Hal Block, Bennett Cerf]

I think Arlene here made a remark that she shouldn’t (my opinion)...the way she said:”is this your chosen job?”...

This stunt of having a mule as a mystery guest was fairly daring, especially if Francis the Mule had gotten spooked and a got aloose in the studio. Any number of things could go wrong, since animals do not direct well on live TV as Allan Sherman discovered on "I Got A Secret" with the rabbits. . And did the producers really hope that the panel would not notice the . . . well -- aroma??

Garbage truck driver is something she does. She drives the truck. As far as we know, she doesn’t pick up the garbage, someone else on the truck would do that. She’s very misleading because she made it seem like she’s selling something that nobody wants😅. It really doesn’t matter anymore anyway because they’re all dead now.

I am so sick of the little jibes that Daley constantly dealt out to Hal Block. There is always a negative assumption behind when he confirms to Block that Block could use it oder be affected by the product or service of the candidate.
@esmeephillips5888 Жыл бұрын
Maybe, but Block was getting on everyone's nerves with his sleazy innuendoes. He was riding for a fall, especially given alternatives such as Steve or Fred Allen.

I think it's to your credit that you would stand up for Hal but just watch a few more of the episodes with him and you may find yourself being less compassionate. I have strong opinions about Block's oafish, ungentlemanly fashion and I don't mind Daly taking him to task.
