Still my favorite cat!! I'm not 100% sure I like some of the changes, but the part I love the most is their after-sales services. The way they handle everything with the vendors is just what sets them apart and relieves 90% of the anxiety of owning a craft.

I agree. The after sales service seems to be tops in the industry. A mass production builder will tell you to deal with each vendor on your own as issues come up for warranty. Them taking care of it for you is a huge, hard to put a price on, benefit.

Hi Greg and Jan. Someone needs to inform Xquisite that they need to seriously review their website. Particularly the X5+ renderings. The interior photos make the boat look cramped. There are no overhead sketches of deck, saloon or berthing spaces. Personal negative bias: Single wheel and no four cabin version. Best of luck on your boat quest.

Thanks. Maybe something you should email Xquisite about. Maybe Tamas or a member of the Team will read this. As for the single wheel. I actually like that. Dual Wheel is unnecessary to me and requires that you have winches and instruments in 2 places which just adds more things to break and more expense when buying the boat. I prefer 1 help station. I like Balance's answer where you have one wheel but more than one seating position with the Versa Helm. As for 3 Cabins: I like that decision too because this boat is set up for liveaboard and owners want a owners cabin not 4 small cabins. But I am fairly certain if you wanted 4 cabins they can duplicate the guest side on both sides. They just don't promote that 4 cabin version because this is an expensive boat and not really designed for the Charter fleet world, where more cabins gets you higher rental rates.

@CruisingOffDuty Thanks for the reply. I did try to find a way to convey my thoughts regarding the website. But the only way seem to be to inquire about a new boat. I chose you to be my "emissary" My other comments which you apt8ly addressed were not for Xquisite. Only my personal preferences Oddly, I found the Balance website to be awkward also. Best of luck.

Surprising most of the boat companies don't have a dishwasher as standard. They are so light and energy efficient. Who wants to go cruising or live on a boat and have to wash dishes? A dishwasher would help to maintain patency of plumbing and reduce maintenance. 🍽

Dish washers also save you a ton of water over constantly filling sinks to wash and then rinsing dishes as you hand wash. Plus you can put dirty dishes in the dishwasher so they are out of sight instead of sitting in the sink waiting to be washed, which is gross to look at. If I have a boat that is big enough to have a dishwasher, I will opt for it.

Its nice seeing them go to 48V. Most people do not understand how much wire is on a Catamaran. Having everything like fans, AC, windless and fridges will save so much wire weight(cost) that much larger battery banks can be added at no extra cost with wire savings. Also 48v items are more efficient than 24.

Yes. 48v is a big step up in my opinion. If I was in the market for a new one and I needed to wait until next year when they have the 48v and the hybrid propulsion, I would.

Other than performance features such as dagger boards, it is very difficult to beat xquisite yachts. especially on there are no yachts which is 100% single handed in completely enclosed helm. There is none. There are many protected helms but nothing like xquisite yachts and other dont even come close! After service and iPad control is awesome. Redunancy and labeling is top notch. And it is amazing how xquisite listens to the customers and improves them immediately. i cannot wait to see Solar Sixty Sail.

I can attest to this firsthand. I was part of the crew that sailed this very X5 Plus from Annapolis to Freeport after this show. (I do not work for Xquisite, I am however an owner.) Even sailing in 10-15' waves with very high winds, I was perfectly protected and safe and able to trim, reef, and change entire sail profiles from the helm without another person and without ever having left the helm. You can see everything you need from that one station, and every line and sheet you need is right there - with two amazing powered winches.

Windelo is not really a front cockpit as it is not an outdoor space to lounge. It is a front helm location with the winches up front. I do like the front steering option. Front cockpit is more like what you see on the Leopards and other mass production cats that are more suited to the Charter industry. Front cockpits add weight. Xquisite was trying to improve performance by cutting 2 tons so adding weight for a front cockpit is probably not in their plans. The mounted front lounging pads with the hanging sun shade was a cool idea and does give you that front outdoor living space. Like Tamas said you can even sit or lay out there with the ipad to control the boat and watch AIS and instruments when you are solo on watch, which would be a cool location to spend your time with great visibility.

The only thing I do not like is the sail drives. They really should make a shaft drive version.

I agree they should have that as an option. Now I know that would mean that the engine would probably be under the bed instead of in the back compartment but it would be nice for a prospective owner to choose which option they prefer. Sail drives do have a rep of needing much more servicing needs and often you have to pull the boat out to work on them. I think I believe I would choose a shaft drive if given the option.

Amazing boat with great features. I know all manufacturers are going more and more high tech, but I wonder what would happen to the electronics if there was a catastrophic failure like a lightning strike, especially in a remote area.

Hopefully it wouldn’t fry everything electric but even if it did you can still sail to some port where you can hopefully get repairs done.

I love this catamaran and all the new changes they have made and are planning. The exterior design is beginning to look a bit dated which they could improve significantly by fitting flush mounted hatches - I wonder why that is not planned?

I know it is a controversial issue but many people who have flush mounted hatches complain of them leaking. So on balance it is not clear to me what is better weighing the pros/cons.

Like the comment below said, there is some debate about the potential leaking issues of flush hatches so it may not be beneficial and is just more aesthetics to go flush. The shape of the hull is very sloped and sort of looks like a spaceship so I don't agree that it looks dated. There are lots of boats that have been using the same hulls for many years that look dated. I won't name them. :-)

I accept both of the arguments about potential leakiness but I have to say it is very hard to find any objective evidence that they are more leaky. Maybe Tamas will find some new technology flush hatches at the trade show because they sure give a boat a more modern upmarket look and reduce stumbles and stubbed toes!

@@Bowmans-Woods I agree the top deck still looks quite futuristic, but the bow shape in particular is very vertical with most modern designs opting for reverse bows (I think that is the correct term when bow projects more forward at the waterline). I realise I am considering just aesthetics but I do recall some articles/videos in which some designers feel the reverse bow has other advantages.

Would you go for the furling boom?

I would not. It adds weight and complications. However with the camera it does make it a lot easier.

I would now that they have the camera set up to make sure it rolls in evenly. The Furling boom will allow the sail to have battens. I would not ever do a furling mast. Then no battens and an if it jams it is almost impossible to work on. With a boom you can work on any issues. The boom is Carbon fiber so I do not think the furling boom would be heavier than a standard boom.

In nasty weather, dark of night, and what not. I want to be able to shut the Salon up tight turn on the AC and navigate from in the Salon. Is this possible on this Yacht?

You can steer by the autopilot from inside the boat.
