Great to hear from Karl. I’m looking at buying an Escape in a year or two so it’s great to know there will be nothing but upgrades. I’m hoping they keep the prices reasonable.

Or Oklahoma. Tesla considered Tulsa. But it went to Austin. Tulsa would be perfect in so many ways. We are more centrally located in the US on Route 66. We have trucking companies, bus manufacturing that might prove important to ETI.

How does the Escape perform cold weather? Will the extra insulation options keep the tanks and water lines from freezing up? Is the Escape comfortable when it is cold outside without using large amounts of propane? How do you keep it warm?
@AdventuresInNoMadness5 жыл бұрын
Hi MIchael, thanks for asking! We are currently in Washington State and had some pretty cold temps the last few nights. It got down to 18F. The extra insulation and spray foam insulation under the belly have kept us warm. We filled up the fresh tank and disconnected the water hose from the outside spigot. and then turned on the fresh and gray tank heaters. No issues at all with anything freezing. We have been using some propane but have also used an electric space heater since we're hooked up to power right now. I'm not sure how much propane we would be going through if we were just using that for heat. We have an extra propane tank in case we run out but haven't needed it yet.
@michaelbishop61595 жыл бұрын
@@AdventuresInNoMadness Do the heated hoses with the electrical coils work?
@AdventuresInNoMadness5 жыл бұрын
The heated hose would totally work! We just don’t have one right now. They’re kind of expensive, take up space we don’t have a lot of, and we don’t intend on doing a lot of cold weather camping.

GREAT PEOPLE TO WORK WITH, AND AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO, I FEEL ASSURED THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE ME THE AFTER-MARKET SUPPORT THAT I NOW NEED.

@@stevemanelski1970 That's up pretty high. Good thing you have the guard or your window would be broken. The rock guard should be an easy fix. Any idea how it got damaged?

@@shouldibehere Soft tonneau I never liked because it did not fit right, blew off in a gust of wind after a dual semi passed me on the left side. Metal spine of that tonneau blew off, hit the rock guard. winched strap I had added to hold it in place kept it from coming off my truck completely, and saved it from creating more damage.End of story.

We have the Escape 5th wheel, bought it 2nd hand but it had hardly been used. Its a 2008 version and we love it. We live on Vancouver Island and visited the shop in Chilliwack several times for repairs and updates. Will the location in Chilliwack be gone? As a Canadian we have been very proud of this company and hoping this doesn't completely change to the U.S. Thanks for this video.

LOL, nothing major. We couldn't close the door with the new RV Lock we installed. Basically had to slam it. We had them adjust the door and now it closes perfectly!! They kind of bent the top and bottom of the door. We also had a 2nd PVC sewer hose container installed next to the first one. Had them double check the water pump since we've had to adjust it 4 times to keep it from running continuously. 5th time seems to be the charm.

It was very nice to have interacted with Karl's lovely wife, Sharon, who also is part of the Escape team. Eventhough the company went through recent ownership transition, however, Escape retained that personal, family business feel that I really appreciates.

Add the new Greystokes cabinets and leather seats from the Northern Light LE truck campers!!! Also, add features that will make the trailers more useful for full-time living: 4 season, big solar and lithium battery banks, built-in and/or portable generator bays, internet/cell/Wi-Fi equipment, and off road packages for BLM and National Forest Land boondocking! Ya know what would also be cool, build a shorter 5th wheel trailer model based off of your Northern Light truck campers. Why? This would address several problems with both trailers and truck campers. A 5th wheel trailer truck camper hybrid would reduce both length and height, making it more accessible in parks with length restrictions and on roads with height restrictions. Hooking up a 5th wheel would also be a lot easier and less dangerous than loading/unloading a truck camper. Just a thought. :)
@AdventuresInNoMadness4 жыл бұрын
I LOVE all your ideas and improvements for full time living and boondocking! We'll be adding Lithium ourselves at some point but having these things as options during the build process would be amazing!

Only thing giving me pause is the bed. I’m 6’04” tall and really prefer a king bed. I’ve been swapping emails with Melisa about getting to see a 5.0. Waiting for a call back from the owner in an adjacent county to arrange a showing. Come on Karl, cut a wide window up front to slide in a king mattress.

Melissa is awesome to work with!! I can say I feel lucky to be a short 5’2” ha ha. It’s tough to be tall in an rv. I love the 5.0 and it certainly gives you better headroom. I think you’ll like it despite not having the king bed.
