You gotta go off your clearances , arc rod bearings want a SAE30 wt . Less wt. can cause friction issues if setup at there clearances they say

How would you tell the compression ratio and what octane goes best with what compression ratio

You need to cc the engine homie .. and when you get the compression ratio google the needed octane

Forgot to mention that I’ll be installing champion rockers rods and springs after I break in the cam. Do you think that’s necessary to break in cam before installing springs ?

It can be a help. It depends on spring pressure. Most springs in these aren’t strong enough to do any damage to the cam is proper assembly procedures are done.

Big fan ! Watch all your vids . I’m a beginner at building and hope to reach your level . Have a question , what’s the best gasket for a stage 2 predator 212 non hemi that will help with compression. How thick? Later I’m going to port and polish the head . Lil by lil as I learn I’m upgrading on the engine . Ty in advance . Also I want to buy a head from you guys and have you guys weld a spine on my gx200 also bore .

Thank you 🙏🏻.. as far as head gasket you want to use a fire ring head gasket. They are .045” thick.
