The PolyBrute is awesome and this unexpected OS release adds some great features I didn't know I wanted, while adding things I did like improved tuning functionality to the oscillator section. It may only be 6 voices but Arturia have said that that was the sweet spot their engineers came to when designing the synth when balancing weight, cost, and voice consistency. 8 voices would have been great but you can still do splits and stuff with this. There are so many classic vintage synths like the Memorymoog, Jupiter 6, Juno 6/60/106, and the Oberheim Xpander with the same voice count. I would recommend anyone thinking about getting a great polyphonic analog synth think seriously about getting one of the modern ones like this or a Rev 2, Prologue, etc. before paying crazy prices for vintage gear. Get a newer synth FIRST, and see if it meets your needs once you get to know it and THEN seek out a vintage instrument if you still need a specific vintage flavour or mojo the new stuff won't give you. I've said it many times, but I think the PolyBrute is the most significant analog synthesizer to come out since the Xpander.

@@DankePlace I have to check but I THINK it can allocate voices differently so you could do a lead or bass in one hand and then a 5 voice pad in the other. In any case, it's nice to have the option.

Great demo Jack. Arturia really delivered with this new firmware update, making a brilliant synth even more awesome. Some great new presets come with the update too. Love the wonky fluttering lofi patches that can be easily created with the new additions

My Waldorf Blofeld unit has 14 types of distortion in each of the 2 filters and in the 2 FX slots to accumulate 4 simultaneous and without counting the tricks it has with its 4 esoteric modifiers and its 16 combinable modulations, it needs to be scientific to understand its advantages. The polybrute only has 6 voices, like a prophet 6 OB6 or a deepmind 6 can have, I don't think you can abuse unison-poly much with only 6 voices you stay in mono and duo, it's a shame they couldn't add false polyphony or Duophony like the Waldorf Pulse 2 had, which used paraphony of 3 for the 3 oscillators and is capable of 8 false polyphonic notes. Pulse 2 is analog with 3 oscillators inspired by minimoog. So I don't know, if these updates are just a promotion to be in the press news and KZbin channels, I don't see more than that. Jack's demo is great, and thanks to him I can see if it is feasible to pay his high price.

If you’re looking at this as a 6 voice analog synth only, you’re missing 70% of the synth. I own a DM and OB6, and they are nothing like it.

@@vaiman7777 Yes, that's why I bought it 2 years ago, because of its morphing, my quote is not a comparison between synthesizers, it is a constructive criticism about the limited functions, we agree that Polybrute is different but not that much, if you don't use mophing and Sus 3 effects sections will not make those sounds in this video. 😅👍 Deepmind 12 is another one that I bought 4 years ago and only with its 4 FX engines I can already route any strange combination in 1000 ways, between EQ's, additional filters (I can add 4 more filters in series and parallel of the 4 routed sections using its analog filter For a total of 5 filters, Polybrute will not be able to have that, it also has more LFO's and compressors, but not only with that, the quality of Tc.Electronic and Klark Teknik, is much better than that of my black Polybrute unit. 1024 DM 6 and 12 presets, well my Polybrute can't handle that many but it has 768, the only thing I bought it for was its large size, morph, sequencer and 2 simultaneous filters, the rest is very basic, its buttons are yellow , and knobs are peeling due to the silicone grip. All synths are very different, whether for better or worse! No problem 😅👍

@@inperfectsequence7840 Yeah I agree it's a very basic synth as it's core. My comment was mostly directed to other potential buyers, as they'd be disappointed on the surface if buying this for a bread & butter synth. Hence my high percentage rate. If that morphing function isn't a necessity in their sound, I'd advise on other synths. Although I do find it's raw character, filters, mods and Reverb excellent. So for the price... it's a tough market. The keybed isn't great, cheap if I had to be honest. The DM12 is great on price, but I find I use it very few times. Most of my patches are unison 2, or they sound weak. I've got about 20 stored patches that I use. The default one's were god awful lol. So it's really filler synth for background. But it'll stay as it's a no brainer on price. OB6. I enjoy it more every time I use it. It's just a solid beast isn't it? It's a fierce market these days, with so many options. Have you tried GEOsynths polybrute patches by any chance? Very pad orientated, but he's done a cracking job. Certainly better under your hands than the demos reflect. Not saying he isn't great, he is. But I found tweaking them is a joy, exactly what he intended.

I added an extra voice to my Blofeld by singing along with it, I can modulate the voice and also fold it, pitch reverse with flutter and wowsers.

Yes, firmware 3.0 is wonderful. But there is no release note related to the POLYBRUTE itself. In the Arturia Software Center there is only the release note related to CONNECT. However, it would be nice if there was a release note related to the POLYBRUTE itself.💖💖💖💖👍👍👏👏👏👏

Actually it does not have a analogue sound, the behringer sounds analogue and its 8 voices for$300, so saying they could not do it is B.S and that terrible cheap toy keybed, a definite deal breaker, mini freak is a better bargain, and how much of this modulation will you use for a actual track.
