i had a stroke on 2/1/24 I'm healing and rehabbing and will look at a 2.0 or 2.3 to replace my 1.6 8v in my '92 Samurai. lets hope I can recover to near normal. I've had the '92 since '95 and i'm 61 now. so lets see how it goes. Thanks for sharing..

Good luck on your recovery and engine swap project, sir! You’ve been around these vehicles almost twenty years and, if you’re a mechanic, it’ll be a true advantage. As a non-mechanic, I’ve been in over my head on every aspect of my build. That’s one reason why I’m happy to be associated with MY at ZOR. I’ll be 70 soon. It’s never too late to chase your passion or to learn new things.

I opted for the Trail Gear 3” lift springs to fit 31” tires. Still sprung under the stock axles. Just right for my Milestar Patagonia 31x10.5s on 8” wide 15” wheels off of an old CJ. I got my 4.9 T-case (like a GRS II) to restore proper ratios. It may look a little like a crawler but I’m just setting it up to get me to places a stock rig can’t reach. After the 1 mph tip-over that totaled the tintop body, I found the convertible body for $200. There was damage on the grill and front fenders. Rather than spend $700 on that body work, I opted for the Trail Tough a Front Tube Clip instead. In terms of off road capability, Myron classifies it in the “hunter rig” category.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm new to the channel and it's been quite helpful. I just replaced my first samurai clutch and re-geared and rebuilt my first T-case and found that this is definitely an addiction. From what I'm gathering Myron is not only the man when it comes to Samurai's, but he's a genuinely good man. Awesome Sammy!

Hey, Dave! You’re right about Myron and about the addictive quality of learning about how to do your own repairs. There’s something especially attractive about Suzuki 4X4s. Something about the scale to capability ratio. Every component is smaller and lighter. Something easier to wrap our heads around. Then you get them out on the trail and see that they can get it done.

Thank you! That would be a great adventure! Sounds like I’d better get my heater working. Yes, I want to see as much as possible and North America has more adventure locations than I’ll ever be able to see.

Does the j20a mate to the samurai transmission, use its own, or adapters?
@teamorozuk6819Ай бұрын
I bought the rig with a 1.3 and had a 1.6, 8 valve engine installed by Petroworks. Their 1.6 swap kit included the plate to mount it to the stock transmission. The 2.0 uses the same type plate. The engine mounts are from Trail Tough as well as the transmission mount. They’re the go-to source for 2.0 conversion parts and kits. On the topic of mounts, I’m running the Zuks Off Road Super T-case mount.

@@teamorozuk6819 look at me, I met a samurai celebrity in the comments section. Thanks for the reply. I love your zuk. The tin top tragedy breaks my heart but I like what you do, and I'm glad you stayed at it.

Were did you get the exhaust manifold?
@Zuksoffroad3 күн бұрын
From Zuksoffroad. No we don’t have anymore we are working on a header for 2.0/2.3 Samurai conversions. We already have for tracker/sidekick conversions.
@teamorozuk68192 күн бұрын
The exhaust manifold was harvested off of the parts donor motor. I heated it up in a spot where it was too close to the steering shaft and banged it back until everything cleared. No big deal.

What suspension, t case gearing, axles, and tires does orozuk have?
@teamorozuk68192 күн бұрын
Sorry about how long it’s taken me to respond here. There was one part that wasn’t answered previously. I’ll just answer it all in order here. Suspension is a simple 3” lift using Trail Gear springs along with the shocks recommended by MY. The entire axle/diff assemblies are stock for the 1986. Tires are Milestar Patagonia MTs. I was shopping Amazon for a budget tire solution and found them early on. I saw them a budget-friendly solution and I loved the way they looked. I also reasoned that, if they ended up being somehow inferior, I could get away with it since the Samurai is very light by light truck standards. Soon after i got them, they started showing up on a lot of the YT channels I follow. All on much bigger rigs and apparently working fine.

How much of pita was it to get that 2.0 state legal in CA?

I embarked on the life of a nomad on April Fool’s Day in 2022. When I ran into registration obstacles in my native California, knowing that I don’t reside in any particular place, Arizona emerged as a good place to maintain an “address”. It’s on the way to just about everywhere I want to explore and I already had ties to Zuks Off Road as a customer for years.
