UFC need to go to Spain with a champion. They aren't risking Ilia losing to anyone before that. So Ilia will be forced to wait till the Spanish PPV event, which is unlikely to be soon. Ilia will likely fight just one more time this year. He's never fought more than twice in a year.

Alex used the same gameplan against Illia, which he used against Max in the trilogy fight, and it was stupid considering that Illia fights in an orthodox stance only and it became easier to connect on Alex. Also, should have wrestled early on to tire out Illia's arms and used head kicks during the clinch breakups and stayed mostly in the middle distance.

When Charley olives was champ I always said that that was volks chance to take lightweight belt also. And at the time I reckon he had a very good chance of doing so. I think you letting go of “ winning or losing “ is the key to your next victory, imo. Unfortunately the fight game is all about being prepared and also being in the moment. I became your biggest fan the day you dismantled holloway in the 3rd match with him, i loved him too but the way you showed levels to him was extrordinary. Just believe in your skillset, mix it up with ground game, and then piece him down like you always do and surely you will win, just watch out for his speed and keep ur defenses tight.
