The federal government instituted affirmative action policies in an effort to improve opportunities for groups that have been subjected to discrimination. Currently, two cases are under review before the Supreme Court to determine whether universities can continue to use race-conscious admissions policies. Join Professor Richard T. Ford, ’88, and alum moderator Bacardi Jackson, ’92, to learn about the cases under review and gain a perspective on what's next if affirmative action is declared unconstitutional and its impact on the future of higher education.
Richard T. Ford is the George E. Osborne Professor of Law. An expert on civil rights and antidiscrimination law, his work intersects critical theory and the law. He focuses on the social and legal conflicts surrounding claims of discrimination, on the causes and effects of racial segregation, and on the use of territorial boundaries as instruments of social regulation.
