What's next for Jammy? *Show vlog*

The long-awaited news of what's next for Jammy is finally here, but first, join us for a fun showjumping outing! We headed off to Allenshill, a local venue, for Jam's first show since Badminton. In true Jammy style, she jumped two lovely double clears and came back with ribbons in both classes. It was that last boost of "we can do this" which made me ready to share my big news with you.
I'm thrilled to announce that Jammy and I are working towards our first ever international event at Wellington Horse Trials in August. This is a massive and slightly terrifying step for us, but I believe we are both ready for it. I hope you guys are excited to follow along on this incredible journey!

When she does retire Jam and breed her again, I bet she would like a purebred Connemara sired by a very large (for the breed), top eventing stallion. She seems less comfortable on the spicier, hotter blooded ponies and crosses and more comfortable on the purebred Connies now. Just an obsevation. Having bred, trained, and competed both, there is quite a difference. Her choice of course.

I highly recommend getting in contact with Derek Knottenbelt about the sarcoids (he specialises in equine cancer). He is in the uk i believe and my vets sent him photos of my horses sarcoids on his nose. He was able to advise what the best course of action would be. In my case it was freezing the area with liquid nitrogen, a chemotherapy injection, and a sarcoid cream. His sarcoids healed up really nicely and its almost like they were never there. Hope this helps. :)

That's what I thought, that Ellie Fredericks was there for the Chase me Charlie video because they were discussing her being Jam's rider for a 1*. Meg always said she had no interest in going pro or stepping up from BE so I'm SO impressed and surprised that she's planning on taking that step herself. I know she can do it, it was just a matter of what she wanted. EEEEEE so exciting!!

For the sarcoids: Crest Pro Health toothpaste. Has to be the Pro Health kind. Be aggressive 2-3 times a day. Put it on thick like cream cheese on a bagel. My horse had one massive sarcoid growing in his ear, my vet said it would need to be taken off with a laser and most likely done twice due to the size. I was mortified as how much that was going to cost so he said try the toothpaste. I did and it shrank it down so much! I ultimately had the nucleus lasered off and it took just once. It really works! Give it try!

Megan, you're going to have to get Jam microchipped. The first time you register a Horse for FEI, they have to be microchipped, and you're also going to have to get Jam a FEI Passport. When you go to a FEI eventing competition, you have to hand in the passport to the office, and you'll get it back at the completion of the event. Also, you'll have to get yourself a set of tails to ride in, for the Dressage.

You don't have to have a FEI passport to do 1* in your own country. You have to be FEI registered but that's different from an actual FEI passport.

Incredibly sympathetic about the sarcoids, my boy had them constantly until we got them surgically removed a couple years ago. Now he's got a notch in his ear like a feral cat, we were lucky not to have to remove more! And I'm sure you're already doing this, but especially if they're open or weeping some heavy-duty fly cream around them is a MUST. All that aside, Jammy looks like she's doing so well and having such a good time! Excited to see what August brings :D

Sarcoids are cosmetically unappealing i agree with the vet, unless they are troubling her leave them be. However they should be carefully monitored because of the cancer risk element. A lot of treatments on the markets are caustic and obviously the ears are sensitive. One thing you can do is add a superfood supplement to her diet, turmeric being one example but again do your research on this. Nearly twenty years ago i was jumping 160 cm on my eventer mare Juliana . Retired from mainstream events now but still train occasionally i have one mare now a Belgian cross TB but she has arthritis so is just a pasture pet,but stil my best friend . I love following your channel you are amazing xx

You need a passport for Jam, and be careful of any medications YOU take!! Or that you give Jam. Be careful of any rubs or liniment. Some are not allowed in FEI Competions. Even though you're only competing in the UK, it's still an FEI event. That's why Jam needs a passport. As a former FEI Judge, these are a few rules that you need to know. Definitely recommend looking into an immune supplement like SmartImmune for sarcoids. I had a horse with a sarcoid and it was removed. Had to make sure you cut into the margins to get it all, but it does heal well!

Hey Meg ! Best cure I've found for sarcoids is 50/50 salt and flour mixed into a paste (toothpaste type consistency) Only thing that worked with my horse that had a huge baseball sized one on her fetlock (I had tried all sorts from Vets to herbs) Sounds crazy but it works! Twice a day slap it on until it falls off
