Geno is the man. Great build my friend looking outstanding. The pant work is first class. All components are coming together as well. You have a first class build taking place right before you my friend. Your project is nolonger a dream, the dream is now a reality. I can think of (NO ONE ) more deserving of having their dream come true than you. God Bless, stay safe and enjoy.

Mike, talk about a dream come true. Sadly, many of us can only dream of doing what your doing and in that respect your so blessed. I thought you were at one time going with some orange striping on the outside of the plane to go with those diamond tuck leather seats done in black and orange? Wouldn't that make the outside blend better with the inside? Its your plane and I'm sure your going to love it either way. I suppose if its the right color of silver vinyl you go with so that it stands out against all that Austin Martin Platinum paint. I'm looking forwards to you showing how they are going to fog the entire inside of all the components with the corrosion inhibitors. I can see why it was important to paint the exterior completely first so that none of the corrosion material would interfere with the paint that was going onto the exterior. I assume that it's just some brand of auto paint? Or does it have to be some special type of paint product since its going on an actual aircraft? The FAA is so fussy what and how things are done with aircraft. Perhaps because its experimental you get away with a lot more. I guess its only your safety for the most part at risk when you build your own plane and the FAA is less concerned with what parts go into the construction. I know in some instances things like bolts and bearings have to be aircraft approved to be used on actual aircraft. I used to raise some eyebrows going to the bearing supply house when I used to fly model helicopters and looking for specific bearings. They would ask what its for and I'd say my helicopter and they would get all worked up and give me the speech about having to be FAA approved bearing. Then I'd simply tell them its for a model and they could then care less. Well all I can say is hurry up and get it done. It almost looks like your running neck and neck with Evan Byrne who is building his TSI in his shop by himself. He just had a baby also and so got delayed somewhat. Till next time, keep the building coming.

Nice aircraft Mike. Glad you're doing it. The only thing I'm wondering about is the black interior. Most aviators and that doesn't mean by any stretch that one should always follow that call, do the interiors in at least a lighter shade to keep from feeling cramped or closed in. I hope in your case that is not an issue with you. If it is you can always go through the process of removing the interior and lightning it up or maybe making some light colored panels to install to help break up the black. Just my two cents worth and as it's your baby go for it! Congratulations and looking forward to seeing the initial tests.

I like the look of the new paint, but I worry about you in the summer sun with no A/C . That color looks like it will soak a lot of heat.
@EJWash574 жыл бұрын
Also, add that the preference for the interior for this particular airplane is all black. I haven't seen every single light airplane out there, but I have never seen one with an all-black interior. My concern would be the avionics. Electronics hate heat!
@johndoran32744 жыл бұрын
EJWash I agree. The combination of all that glass with the dark colors is going to make it a good winter plane but way too hot for a down south summer. As for the avionics, it can’t be good for them either. I’m just speculating and hope I’m wrong. He’s in way too deep to change course now.

The cowling looks the best because it benefits from the free form of composite construction. I really think all planes should be fully composite and ideally one single piece for the fuselage. It must help manufacture time tremendously. Your plane already has multiple composite parts because of the limitations of rivet skins. And then they should certify them so they can actually manufacture them instead of this extreme circumvention. I wonder why the mechanisms for the ailerons are outside the wing. Many planes have that but I don't see why.

Will this Aircraft be registered with you Mike as the builder? I’m not sure how the 51% rule works but it seems from your videos that the vast majority of this build has been done by Airplane Factory personnel. I want to understand if builder assist means having professionals build the aircraft for you.
@johnf33054 жыл бұрын
Gamma Sigma I’ve asked that question before, never get a response from Mike...
@fredericklarsen30764 жыл бұрын
51% means more than half of the listed tasks required to build. It does not mean 51% of the time required to build. I’m sure it’s legit from a legal standpoint but you’re right. It is essentially a professionally built plane with the builder assisting not the other way around.

While you "love" the color, you answer your own question as to why you see impressions in the skin. Dark colors amplify imperfections as opposed to lighter colors. At the same time, imperfections do NOT mean unsound structure. It can be purely cosmetic. I'm surprised that the paint shop didn't warn Mojo before hand. Or, maybe they did. It's his airplane, so, his preference.
