Thanks for the show, Mo! I just wish you had a better view of the actual joining of fuselage and wing.....! Maybe do another video of another plane where you do not actually have to be physically involved but rather just do the video from the overhead of that part of the process...just a thought. Thanks.

Another milestone, although I can't ignore the hammering. I assume that what was being wailed on with no less than a two-pound sledge hammer are the wing joining bolts. I'd expect to hear such mauling at a heavy steel construction site, but not an airplane hanger. If it takes that much effort, something just ain't right.

Thanks Edward. for the 40 hours test flight, I'm estimating 2-4 weeks. Will be flying everyday, multiple times a day if weather permits.

Sounds good - remember to fill out the performance characteristics while you’re at it, not just fly around for the fun of it (though it will be fun!). If you haven’t seen it already, the EAA has some cards you can fill out to help you figure out the performance specs. Like a ceiling of 28,000’. Or FL29. Or FL30????

The flaps got scratched in two places. If you go back, you can see them.
@NICU_Guy4 жыл бұрын
@@Bonspieler OK. I heard Mike talk about the scratches, but didn't think that was the issue. I thought it had to do with something inside the wing. I thought the guy with his hand inside the wing was the one cussing because Mike pans the camera down to him when he said "What happened?".

How can you give this a thump down. Some people are just sad haters..
@johnf33054 жыл бұрын
you mean they're almost done...no way this build meets the 51% rule...
@EJWash574 жыл бұрын
The 51% rule is specific to each aircraft design. Get's even more murky when build-assist comes into play. I can "build" an Experimental Category Carbon Cub, and put less than 100 hands-on hours myself.
@tyler_russell4 жыл бұрын
Why is this painted before you fly off the 40 hrs? I would have waited in case you needed to make changes. Then you have a spotless plane when the build is done.
@slavedriver3944 жыл бұрын
The guys at TAF have done this enough to get it right first time..
@EJWash574 жыл бұрын
@@slavedriver394 Yeah. Like hammering the heck out of what I assume are the wing joining bolts to get them in place. If that doesn't spell "amateur", what does?
@slavedriver3944 жыл бұрын
@@EJWash57 You have heard of interference fits I presume? The bolts are designed to be a tight fit - even the smallest amount of play at the wing root would result in movement of the wings. In what way is hammering them into place amateur - I would be interested to know how you would do it?
@EJWash574 жыл бұрын
@@slavedriver394 Not having the manual or drawings, I can't answer that question. In general, though, Engineering/Interference Fits are best joined with a non-shocking method. Arbor press, or hydraulic. Even thermal (heat to expand - freeze to contract). A huge issue with using a hammer is alignment. No way to be dead-on with each and every blow. Not that the wings will ever need to be taken off, but THOSE wings are NOT coming off!

This guy is always seeking money from people to run or pay for his aircraft stuff. He has a page or member page for MOJOGrip. He offers nothing for members but wants them to become members to MOJOGrip. He does nothing for those who join and become members on his page. Also, he is charging a membership fees of $48 dollars for a full year. This guy is a joke. I have never see any other people on this page. I am retired Marine and Air Force Veteran having both worked on F/A 18's and F-16s for over 22 years, and currently seeking my private pilot rating. I come to YT for knowledge and the overall experience to enjoy aviation with others, not to pay their fees or members. This is not what YOU TUBE is for. I know that a person earn money from making videos from YT.

Sorry Mike, I had to give a 👎🏻. What is clearly a significant milestone in your build has not captured at all what was needed to connect the wings to the fuselage. Yes we saw some wiggling & some jiggling accompanied by some banging but it would have really interesting to see some close ups.

Mike? I KNOW, but, did you really HAVE to join the left wing???? Even AOC is being looked down on these days, bro.
