I'm the one who originally linked it to /r/grimdank when it dropped. I was a bit apprehensive at first, and there were a few dissenting voices who (rightfully) complained that it doesn't belong there. But as time went by, it became popular. Can't read a thread without running in to the odd "PRAISE THE SPACE KING" :) It has SO many 40k references that only lore geeks have a chance in warp to notice them all. So I feel it will always be a parody at heart, it just has too much 40k DNA to be completely it's own thing.
