You will never please them all, make videos for you, make yourself as comfortable as you need to. Hold the mic brother 💪

If someone in the comments said they don’t like you holding a microphone, just tell them to eff off. Those people are just jealous.

Haha 😂 Thanks for having my back!

@@austinjruppVery engaging and interesting presentation - using your hands adds to the delivery, not detracts - thank you for taking the time to make this

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the lessons you've learned. I also bought a 20mm instead of an ultra wide zoom, but later bought the zoom anyway. I am now considering getting rid of the 20 before it collects more dust.
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
I definitely think the 20 is a great lens, but now that I have a 16-35 I just never use it or bring it with me

Thank you Austin! I love the twist - What`s NOT in my camera bag! Need to do that too! haha! Thank you!

Of course! So glad you enjoyed the video!

It feels good to see that you have decided to keep the 24mm. I recently got the A7 IV and 24mm G master lens. I was a bit worried about my decision, but after watching this I'm convinced I did a good decision. I'm a newbie, so time will tell. Thank you for doing this.

Amazing! The 24mm has seriously become one of my favorites! You’re doing to love it!

Great video and well thought out. I also pretty much moved from 35-85 to 24-50 combo. Sold the 85mm and yet to sell the 35mm and somehow I find it hard to let go of this focal length and think if I should keep it if I wanted to carry a single prime.
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
I think 35 is a great choice if you only want to carry one lens!

I personally like it when the mic is not in the hand but that´s just me 🙃. My man if you prefer to hold the mic than go for it. People will always find something to complain about. Next it will be they don´t like your mic arm 😂. Also thanks for this video...i myself have bought way to many lenses for every situation as you mentioned in your intro.

Just curious how much of this was due to GAS. I’ve been through this exercise a couple of times and it’s always hard to let go. Thanks for sharing man.

I prefer mics being held when they are meant to be, mounted or clipped when they are meant to be. Simple as that.

I’d prob sell 2 of the 3 35mm lenses. It’s not a bad idea to keep one off them because you may find yourself wanting that focal length again. I bought the Nikon Zf instead of the A7C2. I can adapt all of my Sony lenses and it’s so much fun to shoot with.
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
Ah I’ve been wanting to try the ZF! It looks so fun!

I prefer anything 4:3 and the mic works either way for me

Same! Appreciate it 🤝🏼

First time tuning in. I'd prefer the mic arm on your left, on you're right it frames you, yes, but I found it imprisons you a bit. There must be a way to put it on the left and keep the beautiful lines that it creates including shadows. As the camera is on your left"ish" the space would be free and would not block the eye. Plus, you said you talk with your hands and the mic arm on your left would let them speak, hands freedom of speech, instead of blocking them. Loved the blocking of the headset. Just an opinion of course.

So… what’s that a7cii going for? 🙂
@Miguel-fm8xh5 ай бұрын
Thinking about going for a 16mm f2.8 and 24-105 f4 setup and ignoring all other lenses. I‘m just scared about low light situations, do you think I should add a 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f2 just in case for that setup?
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
If you are focusing more on video than the f4 shouldn’t be much of an issues, but if you want to do more photography than maybe go with a 35/85 combo! Currently my go to setup for photo video is the 16-35, 24mm, 50mm 70-300. I also sometimes have a 24-70 to use for video!

I'll be honest, whenever I see someone holding a mic that wasn't designed to be held, I question why they don't have a mic stand. That said, you do you. Do whatever makes you comfortable!

The A7III and the A7CII mark 1 are essentially the same camera so I would just see which one you can get a better deal on!

Great video! I think everybody should check their equipment. If you don‘t use it, let it go. New haircut? 💇🏻♂️
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
Exactly! Haha yeah got that fresh cut
@adventure_photo5 ай бұрын
I would not sell any of that equipment except for two of the 35mm’s (Sigma and Tamron, keep the GM). I find I like to have a full ‘toolbox’ of equipment even if some are used infrequently. I would give it a second thought because I think you will be regretting your decision and you will be repurchasing some of the things you plan to let go.
@austinjrupp5 ай бұрын
Definitely the fear of rebuying is one of the reasons I have waited so long to sell.
