Known as China's “kite capital,“ Weifang has a long history of manufacturing and flying kites and is endowed with a rich cultural heritage. Kite-making here can be traced back to the first “wooden kite“ made by Mo Di, a great thinker in the State of Lu over two thousand years ago.
According to statistics, there are more than 700 kite industries in Weifang with more than 80,000 employees. Taking kite-making as the main business, upstream and downstream industries of kite wheels, skeletons, strings, printings and other are also promoted. And at the same time, it stimulates bamboo weaving, printing, logistics, packaging, specialty catering and other related industries.
