Recently I bought a small farm / homestead in Portugal. I'm showing you everything that is currently growing on my land. At the moment, my neighbor is using the land, but in the future I will grow my own fruits and vegetables! Walk with me as I show you the land and talk about my future plans for this little farm.
What would you do with this piece of land?

Same! There's so much we can do with this space. I didn't even talk about the chickens I'm planning on keeping in the future.

Yes, it an enormous change! Glad to hear the video is giving off those vibes. Sometimes it's hard to catch on camera. I'm loving the land, I'm so excited to do all the things that I tried in the city, but never really worked.

Fellow portuguese gardener here. Grapes don't need exta watering. They are actually having a very rough year cause there was to much water to late in the season. I probably will have no harvest this year. And Gladiola. And those are not black currents. Not like we know them. They will never produce something edible. They take over everything and are concidered a gardeners worst nightmare in Portugal. They called Silves. Never seen anyone grow gourds etc upwards here. Just on the ground. Gardening in Portugal will be a steep learning curve. Oh. And unless you water your compost heap every day in summer nothing will compost but also can become a fire risk if things get steamy in there

Also... your olive trees are in a rough shape and they rotate in good and bad years. But not all at the same time. So half will be full and half will be empty. The amount of trees you have seem not worth harvesting unless you can add to someone elses pile to bring them to the press. Those olives don't make eating olives. You have the ones for oil. Figs are also confused this year. They should have been ripe but may not ripe at all this year.

Thanks for the comment! It surely will be a learning curve, which I'm really excited about. Learning new things is what I'm looking forward to, as well as to experimenting. If regular composting won't really work, I will try to get my vermicomposting and bokashi again.

I knew they were for oil and not for eating, which is fine. How can you tell they're in a rough shape? They haven't been taken care of for a while, so it makes sense. Hopefully I can get them to flourish again. Will have to look into how much is needed for making oil.

@@GoYvon the trees need a hard trim. I see airshoots and the centre is full. But nothing to worry about. You can cut them back yourself in autumn. In general during harvest season. I had 53 trees that gave me an average of 600 kilo and 50 liters of oil (also 8 days work with 3 people). To bring oil to the press/lagar you need in general 300kg minimum and the cant be picked more then 3 days ago. That is why a lot of people don't bother or team up with others. But unless you have 30 trees you won't have enough to be accepted at the press

@@GoYvon you can compost if you don't mind it comes to a stand still for 6 months. And check that it doesn't start to ...ehmm.. broeien... Other option is piling it up in a small contained area. 1m2 with pallets or something and water is on the regular.

Hopelijk deelt de persoon die dit allemaal gezaaid en verzorgd heeft wat met ons. Nog niet veel, een beetje aan de buiten- en binnenkant. We wachten op onze container; daar zitten veel verbouwspullen in.

HELLO. TODAY I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU 1 TIP! BET ON OLIVE TREES AND THE CALLED GREEN GOLD! TRY TO TALK TO FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, ETC ABOUT THE OLIVE TREES. THEY ARE HARVESTED AND DELIVERED TO COOPERATIVES AND THEY PROCESS AND DELIVER THE OIL! HUGS

That's what I'd love to do! Harvest them once they're ready and press them for oil.
