Hi Alex! Thanks and Colton sends his best regards. 🐈 “Michelob Ultra doesn’t get any better” I have the Doors discography. One of my top 5 bands! John Densmore is a good drummer still. When we lived in Huntington Beach I remember he was playing in some jazz band and it was on the local PBS TV station around Christmas in /08. I wish there was footage on KZbin. I have a CD copy of Changes One Bowie. Art Blakey for Gary. The Police…I have them all. Looking forward to this new series Alex! ✌️

Hey Colton! (And Mike!). That’s an awesome story about seeing Densmore. No disrespect towards the Doors, I do really like them, was more about just really loving Ray. Thanks for the inspiration sir!

Hey Alex. As much as I like L.A. Woman, I would never shell out $125 for it. Riders on the Storm is a masterpiece. That Bowie Changes One comp for a buck is a no-brainer. Nice grab there. Have a great weekend.

Some fantastic records this week, Alex. We've already discussed my love of Berlin (and I have the MoFi record coming), but you may be surprised that I was a HUGE Doors fan in my teens and 20s. I especially love their debut album and LA Woman. As with many things in my life, I obsessed over them to the point I actually burnt out on them. In recent years, I've been enjoying the Doors again, though. I think this is called "second childhood" when you get to my age. Anyway, I'll never shell out a 125 bucks for LA woman, but I am glad to hear there are still people who will. I saw Ray Manzarek iive in a small venue no long before he passed. Incredible man with incredible stories and smart as a whip. As Morrison himself said, "Ray Manzarek is the Doors." Maybe hyperbole, but the man was insanely talented and could really create a mood.

Fun video, glad to be part of this inaugural event. Cool finds , some are a must buy for the price. That Art Blakey on BN would be criminally insane to pass on for under $40. Did you notice the cover photo on the Pink Floyd album and the faces? The faces have been placed on the wrong bodies and David Gilmore’s image has been removed and replaced with Sid Barrett…..yikes. Weird how some labels take liberties with cover art. Thought I’d mention as it was blatant and unnecessary as the albums shown on the back cover were 80% Gilmore era.

The Doors album is one of my favorites. I really have to think hard about price, since i’m retired. 40 dollars isn’t too outrageous but the album must be something i really really want. Bowie for a dollar is a grab. Early Elton John was fantastic. He was a different artist then.

Hi Alex, howzit? Good morning from a sunny Skagen. Good start this, L.A. Woman is my favorite Doors album. One of those 1971’ers 😉 When ever I see a Pink Floyd comp, I always think… «why?!?» What an oddity! I still thing that Elton John covers looks like a soundtrack to an Elton John biopic starring Justin Timberlake 😆 Know nothing about Haken but wow, great album cover! Looks like the Ladd Company meets Weyland-Yutani Corporation design to put on a t-shirt 😎 One of you guys talked about Uncle Tupelo the other day? I got their biggest seller Yankee Hotel Foxtrot in a waaay too big box Christmas 2022 and, well, I have not been giving it enough attention. So, thank you for reminding me? 😄 Have a lovely weekend Alex 😊
@beerandvinyl2 ай бұрын
hey Morten! Thanks as always for watching! yes.. on that Haken cover they went full computer concept in all of the ways, and the music reflects that (but not electronic, if that makes sense?). I'd recommend checking out "The Mountain" as that is one of the best prog metal albums of the last 20 years. For more immediacy, check out their video "Cockroach King".. brilliant! And yes.. someone brought up Uncle Tupelo! YHF is great and I still need. Thanks friend!

I'd think the people buying that Doors "L.A. Woman" UHQR LP would be better getting the "L.A. Woman" 50th anniversary deluxe edition set. You get a very good LP remaster, plus CD's of amazing alternate takes. I think it's already a great sounding album, on any format. It has to be The Doors best engineered album. I think all of The Police albums are great. I love just about everything they ever recorded. There's not many music artists I could say that about. I think that Elton John album is very good. And I wasn't expecting much, since I'm not much of a fan of Elton's debut, "Empty Sky" album.
@beerandvinyl2 ай бұрын
Agree with all this! The Police's career was basically perfect and they shut it down before it had a chance to completely unravel. I'll need to give empty sky another spin to check it out. Thanks for watching James!
