I remember reading about a black Les Paul that he had a luthier make a wider neck/fingerboard, making it more comfortable for his larger hand & longer fingers. Any truth to that?

AGREED Back in 1976 the Band I was in would always open with that Montrose song. I was only 14 years old at that time, however I was still rocking it with my Les Paul Deluxe and Twin Reverb.................... Sigh, I miss the 1970s

@@hkguitar1984 That's so awesome! And so 70's to have the LP Deluxe and Twin. I love the 70's too!

@@SteveOuimette Thanks Steve, yeah, for 2 Summers I worked 3 jobs on top of each other to afford them, the Twin Reverb was $400 brand new and the Les Paul Deluxe was $585 w/case. I really wanted a Les Paul Standard, however none were to be found in my area. My influences back then were Ted Nugent and Ace Frehley.....LOL, thus my guitar/amp selection. Everything was so much simpler back then, even my old Ford truck could be worked on and repaired with only a high school education. I really believe the main reason I still play guitar is to transport myself back to the '70s - '80s. I sold that Les Paul Deluxe, however I still own and play that Twin Reverb, it is indistrucable!

@@hkguitar1984 You said it! I had a paper route for my first guitar as well, but it was a cheap, Seville Les Paul copy. That said, you're right. AND they taught auto shop back in those days in school. Of course you need a different education now to work on cars, lol. That's one of the reasons I still love tube amps...it's all right there in front of you.
@hkguitar1984 Жыл бұрын
@@SteveOuimette +1 to tube amps. My first guitar was a Hondo II, I then stepped up to a 1974 Fender Mustang, I traded that Mustang towards the Gibson. I worked at a gas station, strawberry farm and at my Grandparents Farm, I'm surprised I had time to play guitar! Actually, if people would pull themselves away and off the internet all kinds of personal goals are possible. I feel we are Blessed being able to grow up during the '70s, it was awesome. Be well and be safe Sir.
