It's funny so many pro mixers use Waves plugins while some audio forum people bash them.

Amateur mixers are surprisingly elitist lol. Use anything if it sounds good, people use things in different ways too so even if 1 person can only produce shit with one plug-in someone else will create magic. I love mixers who are creative and find new ways to use plugins, like effects that are mostly used for 1 instrument and using it on something you’d think wouldn’t work :D

So many people bashing waves CLA for example but they’re sooooo good. I don’t use them too often but CLA vocals, guitar and FX can really give a cool shine to tracks and I’ve used them since like 2010

I think its mostly about waves shitty upgrade policy plans and the way they sell their products. Also a lot of pros are several years in the industry and the chance is very high they just started out with Waves Plugins back in the day and still use them because they know them. That being said, I think most people aknowledge that Waves Plugins are good for processing & mixing but hate the company lol. Also nowadays there are so many alternatives for plugins that people just dont feel to buy into the Waves ecosystem anymore. Except for RVox, havent found a good alternative yet lol.

just watch danny sing live... he has a great voice... auto tune/pitch correction isn't always the band members choices. it's often used to save time in studio so that the record labels don't have to spend money on studio time getting every take perfect.

he doesn't. I've watched many of his live performances and I can hear no artifical effects on his vocals, if you know what to look out for... it'd be very easy to pick up on autotune. and considering he does a lot of vocal runs, vibrato and random "talking" esque vocals in his performances in parts where he shouldn't really be talk/singing it'd be very clear if his voice was autotuned, in all examples I've watched he's been slighty flat or sharp with some notes. if you were using autotune live, it'd be a stupid idea to talk or do a lot of vibrato because the autotune would become even more noticable as he's not trying to hit any specific note, the software wouldn't be able to really correct it to any specific key with the talking, and with the vibrato it would sound extremely artifical as the pitch wouldn't waver up and down as a natural vibrato should, the software would just force a change in the tone/timbre of the vocal and keep it on the same note. if you want to hear what an autotuned live performance really sounds like... search on youtube "Dayseeker - Full Set HD - Live at The Foundry Concert Club, specifically at 2:12 when it tries to correct his vocal to the wrong note. there are other instances you can hear it very clear and artificial"@@terriblecertainity​
