Yep, when I worked on the Black Summers Night Album, he had it completed 2 times and practically threw 90% of it away and started over ,,,, but when I first heard a snippet of Pretty Wings, I knew it was the one...2Grammys later, can’t be too mad at him but I’m sure the past accolades made him feel like he has to always at least put out something just as good as the previous music

I was off from work for my 30th birthday in April 1996 and I was cleaning my apartment. While the vacuum was going, I had BET Video Soul showing on the TV but on mute. I noticed a video starting and the caption read MAXWELL...TIL THE COPS COME KNOCKIN. Not knowing who or what this was, I immediately thought it was a rap song. I turned the volume up and once I heard that groove and that voice, I sat down for a closer look and listen. By the time the video was done, I had keys in my hands, got in my car and drove to the music store. I found the CD for $7.99. Took it home and I've been playing it ever since. I was in that same store about 6 months later and the price of the CD was now $15.99 (after the release of Don't Ever Wonder - LOL). I'm a huge fan and I've bought every album after that without hesitation. MAXWELL is THE MODERN DAY MARVIN GAYE!

Love me some Maxwell, and not just because his is so sexy. He is truly talented artist But I'm glad he took time for himself rather than be a slave to the music industry.

Denise West He wasn’t playing the game like they wanted so they ‘Faded him out’ for awhile. It wasn’t voluntarily done. He’s damn lucky his music is just THAT good that people would actually wait on him for YEARS! But He’s a slave regardless, They ALL ARE. There’s no way around that.

If u are a real fan, u remember ALL those years after the Now album. It was like an empty stomach. We were HUNGRY for years!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats how good he was and still is. But that time, in that time, it was something more special. The music, the vibe of that era, late 90s to early 00s, the sexy and coolness of neo soul gave us a new experience, not just music. It was the LOVE JONES era. Wish that things could be that again

His music makes him who he is and his inspiration is Mavin Gaye. Time is essence and if that's what it takes for him to give his fan his best music, so be it. Good to have him back 🥰
