In my town back in the late 80s early 90s they were all greek and Cypriot run and were quality after a night out. Now the people that run them are as filthy as their meat. I boycotted them years ago. Once these shops started to change ownership to a new breed that was me done. But my god, them greeks, Cypriots and Italians knew how to serve up some good food on a weekend back then. The owners now are to concentrated on poor quality food, high prices, money laundering and dealing for the county lines..

Try any turkish döner shop in Germany and see if that doesn't change your mind. They all have their own family recipes and they can't legally advertise it as döner kebap if the meat content has more than 60% mincemeat. It's typically beef or chicken döner, served in a crispy Turkish bread with lots of different salad and sauce. You notice it's different from the UK ones and not just marketed toward the drunken afterpub crowd because it smells heavenly as soon as you step into the shop.
