I grow the Peach Bhut Jolokia atm. Itlooks quite different to your Black Bhuts. I also took them inside for the winter and put it under a flower lamp. It is still developing flowers and fruits and i hope to harvest my first peppers of it soon :)

Well the black bhut looks interesting. I have been looking for some sweet but hot pepper varieties. Wonder if red bhut will turn out like that.

Its local to Assam, India. In Assamese language, bhut means ghost and jolokia means chilli. People here makes pickles with it, put it in curry, vegetables, etc... Also, people here apply bhut jolokia paste in walls to prevent elephants entering houses and cultivation field, ..elephants just don't like the smell of it... Great video, thanx for sharing..

what do you suggest as a pepper that still taste good but is hotter than the habanero? I had heard some of the super hots are like how you described in the video, no flavor, just hot.
@@KhangStarr thanks for the suggestions. Going to have to hunt down some of those seeds. I live in the middle of nowhere and my local grocery store considers anything above a sweet bell pepper to be a super hot variety. So If I want to try things like this I got to grow it first. Makes you appreciate it more when you have to work for it. Anyway thanks for the reply.

Oh my god that plant is sooooo skinny 😂. By the way I have a question +Khang Starr. I want to prune my reaper plant which is very tall like your black bhut, and the bottom section has no leaves, so I am afraid that I will kill it if I leave it with no leaves. I already pruned the upper section keeping some leaves and was planning on pruning it down gradually as it grows new foliage. So do you have any recommendation?
@KhangStarr7 жыл бұрын
You're doing it right. If you prune the growing tips, it will force shoots below it. The reason my plant is so skinny and tall was because it was blocked from the sun by larger plants. When plants are fighting for lights, they will stretch.

It's a pretty pepper. I don't think I could ever eat a raw ghost even if it was a tiny piece like that. You should keep a box of gloves in your kitchen. ;)

I don't like Ghosts at all after trying other super hots. The floral taste and the burn aren't too my liking. The creeping slow burn is awful because it just keeps building.
