Bedside nursing has become even more stressful. Equipment such as tubing, needles, and other supplies has become cheaper in quality and harder to use. Patients are sicker and resources are not good. Bedside nurses are doing multiple roles due to lack of staffing in other areas such as dietary, respiratory, maintenance, evs, nurse aide, case manager, you name it. Nurses are still fighting for more pay and a safer environment to work in. We need a load based on acuity. We also are still fighting against the hospital politics and for our respect when trying to get orders from doctors and sometimes NPs. We dont have alot of travel nurses at the hospital i am at, but quite a few international nurses and they are back hiring lpns to work under the RNs because they will pay them less. As of now the RNs at this hospital are all currently training fresh graduate LPNs while increasing our patient load from 6 to 12 on a medsurg floor with no increase in pay. Moral of the story: continue to stay away.

This sounds A LOT how it was when I left a year ago. In the beginning of my career is was not like this by any means 😢 its been so sad to watch the hospital/medical system deteriorate over the years ultimately affecting quality patient care

Traveling is being cut short, every day there are less and less agency nurses and more people are going back to staff. Even prn positions are suffering since they are then first to float to other departments. I just transferred to a progressive care unit. I'm one-year in nursing, starting to understand how badly medicine is managed and how its run. I'm staring to look into holistic medicine!

Thanks for the comment! Very cool to the holistic medicine, I would love to do something like that as well!
