What's the BEST Classroom Layout?

One thing of note about the classic design of desks in rows in a classroom is that as someone who was confined to a wheelchair a fair amount during my high school years, I found it extremely hard to navigate them as my chair literally couldn't fit between the desks.

Does your head of department let you choose your own seating arrangements or do you have to run it by them every time you want to change it, I sat in a seating arrangement like the last one for my English class and it was definitely good cause you're always discussing books or doing plays with kids having different characters etc. My history class was like a mix of this and a mix of groups of 2, I found that one only really worked if I was sitting with a mate but then it was like half messing around and half discussing when we didn't know something haha.

Yeah our school/department are pretty great for letting us conduct our classes how we see fit. Our HOD trusts us and so as long as we’re teaching the content that needs to be taught, everything else is completely up to us.

@@markjodonohue sounds like an amazing school, I hope that my future schools can be like this. I think that kind of trust and freedom is really important for a teacher.
