I rely on a 22lr for a number of reasons, one biggest reason is my handicap, my left hand is mostly disabled, however I'm right handed. I can operate the slide on my 22 but not so well on larger calibers, next is I am surrounded by other homes and am aware I am responsible for every bullet I fired so I don't want a lot of over penetration. And last as you pointed out no one wants to be shot by any caliber bullet, I am very accurate with my 22 and at 10 to 15 feet I can pick off a fly... sitting fly.

How much does the ability to follow up accurately in a tight time frame count. I am a 5ft 9" 180 lb guy of average strenght and I feel like am somewhere between a 9mm, .40, 38/.375 combo and .45 in terms of what I am comfortable with controlling well. 10mm and .44 feel like a step too far. However like you said size and weight can help with control, i.e I prefered the feel and control of a full sized 1911 in .45 to a browning hi-power 9mm. I feel that low ammo count can be mostly countered by practice. I am a fan with idea of 38 special/.357 mag revolver... Looks intimidating too...and there are decent 7 shot options availible. Even of it means slightly more awkward carry. + Also means I can have a cool as hell repeater rifle in the same combo. My 5ft 7" 170lb partner settled on a Sig 9mm because "it feels like butter", accurate followup is smooth like butter for her and having a large magazine gives her a lot of confidence even with multiple targets.

I don't even know of a .22 centerfire. Winchester produced one from 1885 to 1936 but it was designed for a single shot rifle. I think the closest thing to a .22 centerfire you could find today, would be the .22TCM. It's a 9mm case necked down to a .22. Technically, there are other .22 centerfires if you want to look at the .223 and the .22 Hornet, but those are usually considered rifle cartridges.

Any round has 2 ways to kill someone: 1) blood loss, 2) turning off their electricity. If you severe their brain from the rest of their body, their electricity is turned off and it's instant. Blood loss can take minutes depending on where the bullet hits. A determined person can fight and cause a lot of damage during that time. A weaker willed person under the "psychological" stopping power you stated can convince themselves they're wounded far greater than they really are and die.

Paper ballistics have their uses, and gell test have their place. That are some fine guns and calibers that are just too much to carry concealled every day. There are some guns that are compact and light enough to carry all the time, but problems with the grips, or sights, or triggers make it very hard to hit the target. The best gun and caliber are the setup you have with you and can shoot well. In legally defending a defensive shooting, missing is not an option!

General John T. Thompson, was the biggest influencer in the development of the round due to the poor performance of the .38LC during the Philippine-American War.

no one asked,"what if you're attacked by a 300 pound meth head"?or,"what if you're strolling through Alaska and a drizzly charges"?or in a firefight with a guy armed with an ar15.or any other ridiculous scenario.the mugger will run when you pull the baretta bobcat.

I would definitely carry for the situation I was anticipating, to a point anyway. I wouldn't carry a NAA revolver to defend myself against a Grizzly on my Alaskan wilderness stroll. For the other two situations, I'd carry what I felt really comfortable with. Something I trained and practiced with regularly. Something I was really accurate with because when you use your firearm in a defensive situation, you are responsible for every round that comes out of the end of that barrel. Shot placement is the key to every caliber out there, a .17hmr can be just as lethal as a .500 S&W. My question is, where do you find a 300 pound Meth head? Most of the ones I've seen are closer to 30 pounds! Lol. Just kidding, I get your point. It's tough to prepare for every situation and it might not even be possible, but the best chance you'll ever have will be in your training. Thanks for watching!

Hope I NEVER get shot with no caliber. But very poor knowledge in this video when talked very little about the American Philippine war. Did some reading on this, and watched some stuff on this on the History or Discovery or Military channels. So many of those Philippine"s were all drugged up while fighting us back in early 1900's, is why an 32 or 38 did not stop many of them. That is on why John Browning came out with the 45 back in 1911. Same kind of thing with 1990"s America conflict fighting Somalian during from like Black Hawk Down movie, which many people are familar with or seen. Then also said some of the German soldiers in WW2 were drugged up to, while fighting us. But imagine if shooting a thug that is only drunk or not drugged up, am sure a 22 or 32 would probably easily do the job, as long as its a good shot. Then seen in 1 of these programs, an WW2 German pilot (don't know what part of body) he got shot with a 50 Caliber and jumped out of plane and still survived that, and told his story on it 50 or 60 years later. Some people will live through any gun shot or anything. But my favorite 2 handgun calibers is the 32 or 9mm.

I left out a lot of details in regards to the Philippine-American war just because of time (video length) plus, I wanted to avoid any mention of drug use due to the KZbin algorithm. (I know, it's sad but they sometimes take things out of context and it's tough to appeal their decisions) I was also going to mention a story from Ripley's Believe it or Not, where a guy had an iron bar pass completely through his skull and live a normal life for many, many years afterwards. There are a lot of anomalies that go both ways, minor calibers resulting in death and major calibers causing little harm, we all hope that if we need it at all, it is effective. Thanks for watching!

If you are able to shoot someone a person or animal in the throat it's similar to choking them to death.
