This is so well done. I love that you used the same song to really highlight the sonic differences between the 2 systems.

Hearing her speaking voice first, I was a bit shocked by how full and powerful her voice was! Great comparison. I have of these units and a Bose T8s mixer, and they both work beautifully for small to medium venues. We quite often use the S1 Pro as a monitor when we plug the T8s into a venue PA.

The best system is the one that works for you. The S1 covers a lot of ground and is easy and portable. That girl can sing!

The L1 sounds better ...but for what the S1 is... size portability etc it produces a really good sound... great for a small wine bar busking etc

Meg could sing in a concrete bunker with no sound system and still sound great! (And Danish Pete is the consummate guitarist. I remember him from one of The Captain's blind acoustic guitar test challenges and he nailed it.)

Great video. Why a great voice you have, and a very talented guitarist. Both of your talents made the Bose sound good.

I have the L1 Compact and have tried the S1 pro. Make no mistake the Compact with a mixer/effects such as the Tonematch is far superior, the only thing going for the S1 Pro is the reverb and the Bluetooth/battery which is fine in a small intimate area but having said that it does have a good sound. I've done medium size clubs with the L1 Compact and the Tonematch and I use Backing Tracks with lead guitar instrumentals and vocals encompassing big ballads all running through it and it sounds great and that's according to the audience not me. I position it fairly close at the side of me and I can hear it quite plainly....dont need a monitor as it has 180 degrees spacial sound...very portable too. I used to be in a band in the 60's and 70's and did loads of working mens clubs and worked in France touring the American Army camps then in Germany humping big speakers and other gear all over the place in a Transit Van, so to find the L1 Compact at my age as a solo guitar/vocalist was amazing.

@thelolguy0073 жыл бұрын
Great comparison and video. I spent a lot of time going from one to the other and while there’s denying the S1 is a quality product the L1 wins here. More bass and overall presence. But the appeal of the S1 I expect is the portability and busking etc that’s where it excels.

Pete looking pretty killer in the James Dean jacket... and Meg, what can you say? She’s so lovely and sounds so wonderful. When is the next full song video? By the way Bose, the two input issue is the reason I’ve still not gone with a portable unit yet... these are really great prices, I’ll have to check them against prices here in the US.

depend on Andertons to give a really clear helpful review. already have a Bose Compact , & Roland BA 55 for outdoor , the Roland is great for voice with wireless mike & echo , I prefer the Bose sound. I think I'll be getting the S1 to play in stereo with Compact indoors & Roland outdoors . Lots of other gear around , louder (& heavier-) but for me Bose just hits the sweet spot .

It would have been helpful if you showed them both using a small mixer that had effects like reverb and some useful EQ. That also would give you the extra channel you want. (or more channels) I use 2 L1 Compacts with a 16 channel passive mixer.

I think the L1 sounded more natural, in fact gave the impression there wasn’t a pa at all which is great. The s1 had a bit to much reverb which you could probably set differently. Cause it sounded way to distant. Like they where playing down a well. I imagine the L1 and a small fx mixer might be a great combo to support all requirements though not as portable as the stand alone S1

S1 makes the vocals sound like singing at a karaoke bar, back that “magical” reverb down a bit...

Just goes to show I guess being an early adopter of any tech is the most expensive way to go. Great video once again though guys 👍🏻 Andertons once again
@BluegillGreg2 жыл бұрын
You don't need an extra microphone to have backup vocals. Just share the vocal mike. One mike is enough for two or three people. I'm not sure why you'd need a PA in a silent room, or reverb in a silent reflective room. It seems a good use for the S1 would be busking, and hearing it outdoors during a busy lunch hour would be a proper test and demonstration.

Meg has a fantastic voice. Both sound great here. I really like the sound of the S1 myself. Not sure if it has the volume for outdoors. Can you guys shed some light on that?Out of curiosity, what mic was she using here? Though the L1 sounds great I'm a fan of a little reverb so the S1 wins out here for me.

To be fair on the systems & microphones these systems are designed to work with line level inputs (wireless mic), put a small mixer with sweepable mids in line & the difference is night & day. The microphone sounded terrible with it being common knowledge of the need for Eq

Great review and musicians. Would have like to hear the S1 with no reverb for a more accurate comparison. Meg I agree with others here. With your fabulous voice, you don’t need any reverb. You have a lovely warmth to your voice, the reverb takes some of that away. I am considering the S1, currently have a stagepass 400i which is great but the ease of the s1 blue tooth etc. Plus the Bose quality sound. Could I connect the Bose to the Stagepas as an extra speaker.
