What's the BEST role of 2022 in Wolvesville?

2022 comes to a close and it's time we make up the balance for Wolvesville's roles from the year. A total of 24 roles have been added (with Assassin it would be 25 I guess) and I ranked them based on Creativity, Balance and Fun. This video holds the numbers 12-1. Have a nice 2023, hopefully we can continue to give each other that extra joy in life. 🤗

Again, some information on what roles are included. Only roles that are OFFICIALLY RELEASED in 2022 count. That includes Vigilante, which was already tested in 2021, but not tested roles like Spy, Wolffluencer, Butcher and Locksmith. Some roles might change in the next year, but that counts as 2023. Also, the Assassin is technically a new role, but not in the list, didn't really know how to judge it. 😄 When it comes to Creativity scores, these are solely measured in comparison with other Wolvesville roles. I do think it is somewhat unoriginal if a role is copied from another game/boardgame, but there exists games like mafiagg which has over 200 roles and many more werewolf games that are less well known but might be known by a very small percentage of the WOV community. Therefore I think it is unfair to say that a role copied from the cardgame or Town of Salem is uncreative in Wolvesville and should be rated low on Creativity; whereas another more obscure role is copied from a more obscure game and since people don't know it, they might rate it higher for Creativity. The only fair way to rate Creativity is to use Wolvesville itself as the reference. Have a joyous 2023 🎆

In my opinion, the night watchman is the worst role in the whole game. You can only protect two times and seeing who else is protected wasnt really helpful until now. Is needs a buff like protecting four times

1. Honestly, Ghost Lady can be abit broken because while her protections are still around, she's nearly unkillable on her own. Unlike Red Lady, she can visit an evil role and NOT die. 2. Ritualist's revive mechanic checks if the dead player's true role is a villager. If it's a villager, then the player is revived. If not, the player will not be revived. Ritualist can revive even from corruptor kills (Corruptor description said your kills cannot be revived by medium. But that's not including Ritualist). Speaking of which.... 3. Wolf Trickster can block Medium Revives. In a Trickster/Shadow game, Shadow wolf can activate their ability and wolves vote the (Seer/Aura/Det/etc) while Trickster tricks that player. If the vote is successful, they will be shown as Wolf Trickster and the Medium CANNOT revive them because their display role is Wolf Trickster (Even if everyone understands that this player is good, they still cannot revive because Medium can only revive players whose display role is a villager). (Note: Notice when I differentiate Display Role and True Role? Display Role refers to player's whose apparent role is shown to the entire village due to death or revealing abilities which will not change if converted. For revealing abilities, this is only true at the point of revealing. If a player's display role is shown, it will update itself upon another reveal or death. In the case of Corruptor, if a player die to corruptor, their display role will be shown as a ?. But if they have a display role revealed, that display role remains while a ? is above the role, reminding players that they died to corruptor. Medium is still unable to revive players in such a situation because Medium cannot revive players who die to corruptor. Display role is only taken in the player's POV and will differ from other players. True Role refers to the role that player currently is player as. True Role always updates itself when something happens. This is only known to you, couple/instigator team, Bandit/Zombies and Werewolves. Assuming that you are a converter role that's not Sect Leader, if you convert someone, their display role (in your POV) and true role will change to their new true role. Their display role to other players will be unaffected to prevent giveaways and allow deception. Sect Leader does not change the Player's Display Role in their POV nor change Player's True Role when converted. Sect Leader only changes their team which only sect members will know. )

Unlike red lady, ghost lady cant find evils, which is why the roles are perhaps not be in the same role tree. This is also the case with NWM, the difference between NWM-Doctor vs GL-RL is that Doctor is usually the only protector, which is essential, whereas RL is usually RRV. I did count your second and third point in my review on Ritualist, I recently saw a corrupted player being revived for example.

Vio buff in 2023! Let's hope lol. I have a minor buff concept but want your opinion. Serenade: twice per game you can stop any player from using there ability during night. Can be brought down to 1 if to op but I think it would be pretty cool.

I think ww fan have a huge problem with he's mechanic. Since ww seer can simply check you instead you revealing your role to him is completely making your ability is useless. Of course ww fan can be useful if you have sorcerer instead of ww seer or if ww seer is died before checks you (but that can just happen randomly so it's not counting).

Ww seer finding wwf doesnt happen easily though either. I dont really think its mechanic is a problem. Especially since its quite handy to convert wwf, the ability is a nice tool.

@@reinventedparis3876 double win condition means that you, as bound split wolf, count for two werewolves when it comes down to village vs werewolf. Example: there are 3 werewolves at any given time and 4 villagers, village still lives. But if one of those werewolves is bound with one of the living villagers, then that bound player will also count as werewolf (and as villager), hence there would be 4 werewolves and 4 villagers. In that case, werewolves win immediately. Hope that this example is clear.

probably not. It would exceed the 10/10 for fun for me personally, but from a rational POV it is not the most creative role at all and balancewise it's probably a 7/10, maybe 8/10 if you would argue LM is too weak.

I'm sorry but It's a crime that wwt is only 1 point above nwm... I agree, ewt is a lot better than wolf shaman, but saying wwt is OP assumes that shaman is the epitome of balance, when it's a very weal role. Furthermore, while wwt is competitively viable, nwm very much isn't

So you think Trickster should be higher or lower than NWM? Your comment suggests that you dont like NWM as Trickster, but you also say WWT is 'only one point above nwm', but I placed it one point below NWM as it finished 9th and NWM finished 8th. Also, I think shaman is a good role but on the weak side nowadays. Neither trickster is broken, nor shaman is extremely weak, the difference is just too big, which makes people choose trickster over shaman.

@@hypostein i meant you scored wwt 1 pt higher in the 'balance* category, when NWM in reality should probably be a 3 while wwt is easily at least a 6; wolf shaman is on the weaker side (not underpowered), and wwt is on the stronger side (probably closer to the 'ideal' wolf strength than shaman). It's just that saying it's less balanced than something like GL or Baker which (while I don't think they're over/under powered, they're just) are too easy... Do you get where i'm coming from?

@@NerkoVukovic aura can also do that, just a bit weaker in games with alpha. If you check for wws, then negative results can still give the solo a disguise. Thats why I consider them of similar strength. I do think the gambling element is fun, but they could have improved upon that.
