In a moment of madness I joined at age 49/50 only lasted a short time till discharged because of a bladder infection. Came top in the fitness assessment.

I liked to ask . I was living in the USA at the time on 9/11 After the Trade Centre came down, I can recall the news coming over A TV in a bar where I was , that the SAS had gone into Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden . Not sure what you guys can say about that . but I was quietly proud that our guys seem to be the first in if you get my drift

Mick, quick question... "Does it all make sense?"
@DiabloOutdoors5 ай бұрын
Hi guys, Did you know that a self-called "Special Forces SAS Patrol Commander / Combat Vet / SAS Trainer" on KZbin, says using an UMBRELLA is standard so you can protect yourself from the rain and...collect water? He's also using a Thermos because we all know a Thermos is not heavy and won't explode in your face if you need to boil water (being sarcastic). But also that a small piece of orange fabric is best to be seen from an airplane. He's also using a multi-tools for....chopping. Also carrying a 9V battery, not as a backup, but to start fires... And the best of all... he's carrying secateurs and never a machete because the vines in the jungle will bounce if using a machete. What kind of tiny vines are that? Strange, but I always thought using my machete is the best to cut my way in, and plenty enough to cut razor sharp weeds, bushes, small branches, etc.. As for vines, you either step on it, or cut it at an angle, or push it against a tree (when possible, of course). And even to climb a tree to cut a vine with the machte high enough so I get plenty of water from it. I guess secateurs are now standard issued so the SAS can proved being real though... ;) And last but not the least... cotton t-shirt are not hydrophilic anymore! They wick away moisture.... according to that self-called "Special Forces SAS Patrol Commander / Combat Vet / SAS Trainer". Are SAS now fed with old rotten Marmite or what??? :)

I was always told by my friends in the forces NOBODY in the SAS will ever tell you they was in the SAS. I actually knew a guy for 20 years and always thought he was in the army until his funeral. Seems like theirs millions now on KZbin and the book shop.
@davidelms41655 ай бұрын
And your point is? No secrets told on anything I have seen. These guys have to make a living. Programmes like SAS who dares win could not be further from the truth. So no harm done.
@bugsy895 ай бұрын
@@davidelms4165 No point just an obviation. My friend used to tell people he was a security guard which in hindsight he was! He made a good living. He just stuck to his own personal oath and conduct. I aint that brave or strong. This man did his job (he chose) got on with it and same after ! no reward . He applied the same mentality in civvy street as he did in the regiment and made it!
@davidelms41655 ай бұрын

probably a spot of banter, describing the Seals and calling them matelots ... instead of name checking the SBS and the Royal Marines. 👍⚓
@WhySoSerious5515 ай бұрын
@@DaveHall-rh3fr You know it's like football teams. Some times you have the best players whole team 'Almost' there are always a few useless pricks even in the regiment/delta/whatever, other times you have 6 great players, 2 good ones, and the rest mediocre but they made it. In the Marines as long as your fit, don't mind heights, can swim, and put up with a bit of hardhip, can do a few other basic things, you can get in, and be a complete coward, you see that part is not tested, not until they are deployed. This is where the regiment etc go further, to weed that out, that's weeded before anyway, but you still need to find out what they're really made of, are you smiling on day 3,4,5 of interrogation or complaining, looking worried.....sobbing. Then other things, some people it never occurs to them to climb a tree just that branch above when being pursued, you see they wont check every tree, there are always places to hide, sometimes right under their nose.

My question would be why do you think the s.a.s lost there last two wars ever after being kicked out of iraq and Afghanistan?
@scottcollinson28314 ай бұрын
My question back to you would be, what are you talking about. The SAS lost their last 2 wars??? A completely bizarre statement as a Regiment, Squadron, Infantry unit, a certain branch of the British Armed Forces do not win or lose wars on their own. All of the above fall under the umbrella of the MOD and British Government. To say the most coveted Special Forces Group in the world were kicked out of Iraq and Afghan is complete nonsense. I’m 100% confident that the British SF did far more damage than the media could ever report. Please for future reference understand that a group of Special Forces do not win or lose wars. Country’s and Coalition’s make all the big decisions so get a grip and stop talking complete bollocks!
