The treatment of Craig was and still is criminal. And his honesty about family is so amazing. Awesome stuff.

Fought for so many in the world, not just the UK. Believe me. Angels have our boys backs. Up against evil they are. Phil's ISIS documentary is the upmost of essential viewing. American audience would be intrigued. Men like Phil? The essence of humanitarian. Along with so many of our chaps. And that includes our foreign brother's and sisters over history. Should always give a thought for those fallen you don't know about. But give a real thought for these guys who did know those men in operations. And at times women who they did know in battle. Their brother's lost and didn't even survive the aftermath. Bloody polititians. Thats another matter. Thanks Phil. And for your service Craig. Bless you.

While, as an ex soldier, I have the utmost respect for UKSF, I feel too much information is being released about formation, operations, training, selection, etc! For the operators to do their jobs effectively, they need the security of anonymity! As much as necessary…..as little as possible!

I don’t understand the interest in all this stuff? I’m a former 2434 from 1974 - 1998. I only met two members from 22 in 24 years; on my EPC (A) at Fulwood Bks in Preston in 1991; they had to undertake education courses just like the rest of us. The course was run by the delicious Capt Linda Beer. I believe they ate the same food as us in the mess and also used the lavatory too……Ummm, that’s it….😂

It's a sad fact that some of the best soldiers are from harsh broken homes. These guys stay in as others fall away because they don't want to go back to their dysfunctional /violent homes. Getting that uniform, the ID card with your name on it meant you were claimed, wanted, needed.... Belonged somewhere. Later excelling at learning your skills instilled pride, grew ambition. It's probably the best way to get ahead in life from a start you have no control over.

Me and my brother carried pagers back then, but for the Fire Brigade. We were up for adventures, so we joined the TA too - which was against the regs of both Uniformed Services. Oh dear... Now there was a lot of training in both services and of course we were tested, so the Headshed of the County Fire Service came down one Tuesday evening to see us put through our paces and tell us whether we had made the grade, and he did the usual big-wig thing of asking a bit about us, shaking hands, wishing us well - and presenting us with a pager each. At last, we could fight fires. Meanwhile in the TA... our unit was due to be Hunter Force for an E and E, so on Friday night we were out capturing Light Infantry, ambushing vehicles, and by Saturday night we'd caught all the squirters and penned them in oast houses at a large farm. Duty done, we handed them over to guards, had a brew and hit our Great Green Caterpillars in an outhouse. Close to midnight, the guy on stag ran in, shouting "FIRE FIRE FIRE NODUF NODUF": A barn full of hay bales had spontaneously combusted just across the farmyard from the pen. We rescued the prisoners, but what could we do about the fire? It was blimmin' raging. Well, nothing, the barn was doomed and nobody could get near it - but there was a brick building which was in danger of collapse from the heat. We had a platoon of prisoners, so my brother and I did what you do with a load of squaddies - got them to find buckets and organised a WWII-style bucket-chain to cool the wall, rotating the lads so they didn't get cooked, because it was melt-your-eyeballs hot. So the Fire Brigade turned up, a tender or two at a time (we were miles from any towns)... and eventually, their top brass because there were so many pumps in attendance. And in the light of this huge fire, the Boss of the County Fire Brigade marvelled that the Army had turned up (nobody would tell him why) and they had saved a building with an old-fashioned bucket-chain and a pond. So he went looking for someone to thank - and he found a couple of Troopers who he was sure he knew from somewhere, but who denied having ever met him before... nope... he just couldn't think where... So... I confess. Sir, if you are still alive, we had met you on the Tuesday before. And yes, we were illegally serving two Uniformed Services. I sincerely apologise. We had to choose in the end. Sorry. We didn't choose the Fire Service... we had a lot of fun fighting fires but there was other fighting to do. Good times.😅

The British soldier, learns determination, professionalism, and the resolve to just crack on and get the job done. Gurkha's are born to the world with these qualities already installed. Nepalis are amazing people, make stunning soldiers, and I'm proud to have worked with them. Kris is a legend 👍

Lifes adversaries creates an ultimate warrior from a boy. 99.9% of the time it's from what you call the playground. Streets and those dark corners a child finds itself in. Needing discipline and guidance. Not Eton, Cambridge, Oxford or Bilderberrycompote. These are the faces you see behind enemy lines. The most rare of places. Winning. Bless them and remember them in your heart's.
