We have beaver tails all over the US at fairs and festivals, just called other things depending on the region. Doughboys, fried dough, elephant ears, etc.

Becasue elephant ears are bigger they end up thicker than beaver tails. However you can get beaver tails at plenty of american fairs right along side elephant ears and they are better. The scoring also helps the dough stay thin and crispier.
