What's The Best Team Composition in Don't Starve Together?

If you're a bit experienced, the best character to fulfill all 3 roles has to be Woody. He gathers wood super fast, can craft and give helmets and weaker walking canes to everyone, his goose allows him to very easily explore the map and the ocean in particular, and with the moose he can fight a lot of mobs with almost no resources thus leaving more fighting gear for others. If you want to specifically help a team of new players, Wicker and Wortox are great too. Wicker is the queen of growing food and resources fast and can easily help fight some environmental threats by creating light and disabling rain. Wortox can heal his team very very easily and since he mostly munches on souls it leaves more food for everyone else.

Wanda is Very good too,she doenst need sanity food,dont use weapons (alarming clock),normally require less armor bc she cant take much damage,can run on scraps (Monsters food),can pick up things teleporting and can get everyone to an important spot for 1 purple gem,also deals high damage too So,she is a damage dealer with very low requirements and somewhat team support For me,an optimal team would be an Wanda,woodie and wormwood (If theres 4 players,maybe an wortox/winona/Wendy)

Maxwell is the best gatherer and best fighter potentially. But, aside from a bit extra storage via 🎩, how is he an explorer? He has no map traversal skills or speed boosts.

@@dragonweirdocreap but you know some characters excel with a Beefalo and others don't. There really is no need for Wolfgang, WX, Wartox, Wanda and Wigfrid to have Beefalo's. Best Beefalo characters would be Wendy, Wes, Maxwell, Wormwood, Wickerbottom and Walter.

@@Mr_Vol The thing is, characters that don't excel with beefalo have the luxury of getting a Rider beef instead of an Ornery. I personally have used rider beefs even on chars like Wanda with a set up clock network because beef bell will just send the beef to me 😂 Wendy and Max are probably the most likely to get an Ornery to do stupid lvls of damage on anything without knockback mechanics and completely remove their downside as the cherry on top. Also, curious on the Wickerbottom inclusion there, what does Wicker benefit from a beefalo that a character like Wilson wouldn't? Just curious if I'm forgetting some synergy there.😮 I used to do Ornery beef most of the time, but Ive just been getting a Rider beef most of the time now. It's very convenient to get places faster, 1 twig tax per ride, that and I abused beefs so much in the past I'm tired of Beefalo combat 😂

Willow can be an amazing tank and Fighter depending on how you set up her skill tree. Tho her ability requires the death of Fuel weaver or the champion to unlock mastery of said roles but once you do she can do tons of damage and even potentially draw aggro away from herself and the team with Bernie

The best team composition is an all rounder in the right hands. Take wormwood for example, a good wormwood is capable of mass produce food(and I’m not just talking about veggies), weapon, armor, nm fuel, sanity(in the form of bananas from splumonkeys for others and seeds for himself). He directly counters bee queen with bramble husks. He directly counters dfly with bloom speed and moonshrooms. He can scienceless rush the ruins more comfortably than others. He can mass produce resources and healing. He doesn’t need weather pain to kill ancient fuel weaver. He counters toadstool with his moonshrooms. He can achieve beefalo speed for exploration.

Here my team comp. 1 wigfrid for damage and support. 1 Maxwell for collection. 1 wicker to just generally support. 1 wortox or wendy to stockpile healing. 1 woodie or wanda for late or woodie for easy early stuff, wanda for steamrolling late

It doesn't matter if you play a selfless or selfish character and it also doesn't matter what team composition you have. All you need is common sense. What good is a Warly if he only cooks for himself. What good is a Winona if she chews up all the rocks. What good is a Wanda if she hogs all the tusks. And even if there're 5 Wolfgangs it's doable if they work with each other. It's not about what character is selfish or not. It's about the player utilizing the character's unique abilities to help each other out even if the ability can only be used on yourself. Rock and Stone.

My favourite team comp is Wigfrid (me) and wurt (my friend For starters we don't fight over food because we can't even eat each others food , also the merms that we use for boss fights also get the effects from song, and if i really wanted to i cound give helmets to the merms.

Omg there's just no way, I main Wanda and I use my watches to take my friends anywhere anytime they want like I'm a damn taxi driver. 😂 It's the only reason I keep purple gems around after I move the marble pieces and and lunar altars.

I think you were mostly right on combat characters but I'd say the that explores aren't really that good. It only takes 2 wilsons to get a full map by the end of autumn, every character should just be exploring natrually. For resource gatherers, they do have a lot of value in small teams as they could easily turn several days of gathering into less then one. Not to mention that combat (even with combat character) is expensive, and so if you plan to kill bosses. It would be in best interest to have a wormwood growing potatoes or webber farming meat

A friend and I have had great success with Wigfrid and Woodie. Wigfrid for combat and Woodie for both resources and exploration while still being good in combat too. Wigfrid's battle songs for health and sanity on hit can make Moose Woodie a powerhouse. We theorize that if we had a third player, Wormwood would be a good fit due to the unique craft and easy farming, leaving the combat to the rest of us. I also find that when I or my friends play certain characters, we're much more focused on playing the character instead of the game, if that makes any sense. I think these characters probably have some overlap with the selfish characters.

the characters you pick honeslty dont matter a ton in larger teams, especially if youre new. if youre playing in smaller teams, woodie is unambiguously the best, as long as you hsve eitjer a wigfrid with heartrending ballad or wortox to keep him alive. wortox and woodie can kill bee queen day 1 with zero skill required, and thats not even a joke. not to mention that woodie is one of the better resource gatherers, as well as being able to mass produce living logs. also woodie can reliably get dreadstone armour in just a few days, which is wigfrids best armour. so yeah woodie is a tank, aoe, dps (kinda) and resource gatherer. not to mention that hes pretty good at scouting the ruins in goose form. so yeah, ideal 3 player team would be wortox, woodie, and wigfrid. ridicously broken.

hmm well i would say Walter fits well as a gatherer since he got Woby for extra storage and he can cover lot of ground when Woby is in her big form so he can sorta fit the explorer role as well. so if he has a backpack (better backpacks the better), eye bone placed in Woby so Chester is with them then he can gather alot of stuff and if chester is in the shadow form then even more storage tho i rather have chester as the icebox version to slow down spoilage of food items gathered

I think that some characters may synergize well with others, but mostly, decent players or nomadic players will feed themselves. The only character I think is mandatory for a large group of players is Wigfrid, or else the pig resources will run out.

Super super Easy answer, 2 webbers 1 wx-78 Many bosses can be killed with spiders and nurse spiders, webber provides lots of monster meat and resources(healing, silk) meaning no one starves High health wx-78 for tanking big bosses or speed for proper kiting, or light augement for caves group exploring Spiders spam for everything else 🥰 Vargs? Bees? Deerclops? Frog rain? Just use Spiders Dragon fly? Speedy or tanky wx-78

Literally 6 spider nests from the start of the game and imagine the army you can get in caves Also, this combination is just bad Who's exploring the map faster? By the definitions in this video, the best comp is composed with 1 selfless character and the rest should be whatever you fancy. Been playing the game since release, have a single caretaker for base and resource management, the rest can go boss slaying.

I would say that 3 classes are fighters, gatherers of resources and food makers. Exploring isn't worth putting with these 3 ways to save time. Woddie became best explorer with his walking sticks and goose form,but he is still primarily a resource gatherer. I agree that selfishness and selfishness are also good ways to look at characters but I don't really agree with your spectrum 😅 My favorite combo is Wickerbottom and Wurt. Than there is Wormwood and Wortox. And for free characters it's 2 Webbers xD

maxwell and woodie are fighters, wendy mostly sucks in big fights especially without any assistance, so she's more like a farmer character because of the fodder clear with abigail. woodie + wortox is the best team composition in the entire game. (killing all bosses day 1 is pretty strong in my opinion) wanda takes alot of time to get most out of her kit, but she's a good fighter and can benefit the team with infinite resurrections, best megabase character as well because noone else can just teleport to the atrium, ruins or whatever other place in the world just by right clicking a clock in your inventory. explorer category doesn't make much sense imo, because afaik every character can tame a beefalo and that gives you alot of speed.

maxwell and woodie are wild cards, wendy does amazing in fights if she knows how to control abigail with potions. woodie and wortox are strong, but i wouldn't say they're the best, killing all bosses day 1 is an exaggeration. i agree with wanda, but the idea that no one else can teleport is plain misinformation, there're a lot of teleportation methods in the game and wanda's happens to be the most reliable. and btw most players don't even know that you can tame a beefalo.

I never actually implied that there is no other way of teleportation, I only said that wanda is the best megabase character because it's really hard to argue with that. even with winona's new teleport stations she's super limited and wortox constantly needs to carry bundling wraps with 20 butterflies if he wants souls. on megabase worlds you swap alot, but there is almost no reason not to mainly stay at wanda. since you still need a bunch of time to summon some bosses, woodie and wortox can't actually kill everything day 1, but I said that simply because the fights with this duo almost barely require any preparations. looking back at what I said about wendy is pretty cringe which is understandable because I never really play wendy often (wolfgang main syndrome). with good potion usage and a beefalo, wendy is an awesome fighting character. beefalo obscurity doesn't disqualify the fact that you can still tame them on any character and utilize their high speed to explore the map.

She’s not on the selfless side because most of her stuff eats up magic and ruins resources, but she should be closer to the middle purely because of the ability to do free revives and teleport entire teams across shards at the cost of a single purple gem.

​@@afr-yw6bkwendy gives free aoe options for wigfrid (and a passive 1.1x damage multiplier), and the wigfrid songs do affect both abigail and wendy (they affect every follower in the game) i suppose the ideal situation of the two would be wigfrid tanking for wendy so abigail has the survivability to provide damage for wigfrid
