So 2 Maxwell tips 1) Try fighting Twins on Lunar Island. The fissures help with light, but the main thing is no longer needing to worry about sanity, so just bring a ton of nightmare fuel and spam cages. 2) The best way to get DPS as Maxwell is to have a fully tamed Ornery Beefalo with a war saddle, along with all 3 Ancient Fuelweaver drops, making the duelists deal 60 damage, along with your beefalo's 66

I think that Maxwell's deal with Charlie is the source of his gameplay rework. It makes him more useful in the whole groups survival and I like to think that was his motive for the deal.
