Awesome vids Andre, I'm trying to learn a lot. I'm changing careers after 30 years of being a carpenter. I figure it's time to get out and see the country like I've always wanted to. And be my own boss again. Question for you though I'm in Oregon near Salem. How much regional work has there been? I'm willing to travel long distance but I want to ease my way into this
@Eagle-Xpress Жыл бұрын
OR sucks, being regional is going to be a waste of time and energy for you and us as a dispatcher. Need to go out clear lots of miles and make money that way. Regional or local on west coast is NOT going to make you enough money for this to be worthwhile.

Hi Andre, I’m enjoying your video’s, and I’m learning a lot. I do have a question for you. Have you ever seen or considered a roller bed floor for your van? I’ve seen them in other videos and it seems like something to consider, especially for moving pallets around your unit. Share your thoughts with me. Keep up the good work.
@Eagle-Xpress2 жыл бұрын
Pallets have no issue sliding in and out of my van just as is. Don't see any reason at all to add anything that's rolling. That's one more thing to worry about breaking or going out of order in my opinion. Been doing this for 8 yrs and never needed a roller style flooring or system.

👍 great job explaining. Ford has the extended T 250& 350 172 long. What about the dually vs singles, any difference? Does color really matter because most of them are white? Also Awd vs Rwd does any difference?
@Eagle-Xpress2 жыл бұрын
Dually does not work in any model because pallets won't fit between the wheel wells inside.
@Eagle-Xpress2 жыл бұрын
Color does not matter, and rwd is best for fuel economy. Winter is only 4 months out of the year and not even in many states, none of our drivers have AWD. It's just a waste of extra money for that model and fuel economy is gone.

But it's not 192" long inside and not all vans are 72" tall in the rear door opening. I'll trade the caddy ride feel for the mpg sprinters get and loading floor space. My escalade at home gets me the cadillac ride feel.

Beautiful. I own a 16 ft flatbed F650 with a strong CAT engine , fits up to 8 pallets do you think it's a good idea to start expediting in it or is it even possible to work with your dispatch in this kind of truck ?
@Eagle-Xpress2 жыл бұрын
Expediting is done in cargo vans. Flat bed won't work plus mpg in that truck vs cargo van pay won't be worth it. There's a certain standard that needs to be met, needs to be a cargo van like you see in the video thumbnail

Watched some of your videos and never saw you under full load so I don’t get why you recommend the biggest van possible?
@Eagle-Xpress2 жыл бұрын
I've taken full loads plenty of times. Another reason is to have room for your bed and all your belongings. Drivers live in the van for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. Must be comfortable with lots of room. And ask any driver we take 3 pallets and more plenty of time. And 3rd reason is that's our company minimum standard, to have at least 144 inches of cargo space.

54 inches sounds sweet! More than enough for a husband-wife team which describes my situation. What I'd really like to see, however, is a set-up where the bed lifts up in the direction of the ceiling rather than folds up along the side panel or behind the seat. That would allow freight to be loaded under the bed platform. Even with a full load my co-driver could sleep (in this case, my wife) while I continued to drive and vice versa. We could keep rolling 24/7; which is how we roll today. Just a thought at this point, but I want to pursue it.

Very durable. Add e track slots to the sides of the van wall and door. Then the brackets that hold 2x4 e track type and put plywood on top of them and you can adjust the height any way you want and sleep above the freight. It's easy.
