A few years ago I used their thermal paper on a terrible thin dividing wall between 2 bedrooms where you could hear each other breathing. It felt like we were both sharing a bed. Somehow, the soundproofing was AMAZING!! Barely audible at loud voice level, the only sound really leaking thru the doors that were kitty corner to each other. Only minor drawback was the surface wasn’t smooth enough to paint over and I had to use their liner like you have (except mine was either 75 or 100cm, can’t remember). Definitely worth a shot for anyone having these issues.

Lined 2 walls myself this week (first time ever) & my step dad, an old head DIYer said to leave a 1mm gap between the joints i said the packaging says 0mm? I went with my gut and done butt-butt im so glad I seen this today haha. I also used ready mixed Volden from B&Q and its been amazing for an able body like myself. Never mixed paste in my life and didnt want to over worry about being too thick or runny. Life saver that stuff is! Great video mate.

I used to be a painter/decorator and this is the first video in years i've seen a decorator size the walls and there's a lot of decorators out there who never size and haven't a clue why you should size before lining or papering. Big 👍. Great video.

@mrg2384 watch it again.... I explained about using the Beeline Primer Sealer... And why I used that instead of thinning down my paste or using Gardz.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator You're welcome and keep doing what you're doing. It's finally nice to see someone showing people here on YT how to decorate properly without cutting corners. All the best PPD.

Hi Phil last cut with the Olfa knife I take it the other one was dangerous with that locking wheel. You can still buy shield pouches papering in trousers I do it myself but just easier with as pouch keep up the good work

Well spotted. I swapped out the blade, as they are great. Knife holder... Not so easy to use when paper hanging. Apparently, ive been informed since, I should have been given the other Allway knife to try and not that one lol doh 😣

The dulux centre lining papers are super smooth even the 1400 hides plenty and like plaster finish. I tried Wallrock smooth didnt hide very much on slightly rough walls l found sadly. Wallrock standard did hide bit more but a slightly raised finish to the touch which helps on rough walls.

1400 lining is about 14mins soak time though... It's also like cardboard to hand and handle. WallRock do a ultra 210 grade paste the wall... Have you tried that yet? That can be used over a 'ruff' surface.

Phil can you use beeline primer sealer on bare plaster instead of a mist coat?
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Ай бұрын
It could be, but I'd get some Isomat 2in1 primer... or the fortress bare plaster primer.. or Optiva Primer.

what do builders know about decorating!! lol But who taught you all that though? No need to cross line (why make life difficult is you have large difficult sized walls) and deffo no need to leave gaps.... And why would you think it's a thing. I find I come across this thought process with those who are self taught, not been to college or been brought up with someone who thought that's how it's done. My dad's been in the trade since 1959... he rolls his eyes when I say ppl leave gaps and think you need to cross line all the time. So going back all that time, clearly it's not an age thing.

Cheers Phil. Everyday is a school day. One question....Any tips on how to stop lining paper coming away at the seams above radiators? Ive used good quality lining paper and did some remedial repairs with overlap adhesive, however, it keeps happening :(

gold size . came in a wee box cant remember if it was mixed with hot or cold water , smelt triable , now modern guys think by sizing a walls is precoating it buy using water down paste its not the same
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator

gold size or glue size? As long as you even out the porosity of the surface before hanging paper, you're fine.
