What's the Deal - Isolation Edition

"What's the Deal?" started as a series where we take Jess to a restaurant that she has never been to before, and she rates everything from the food to the noise level. For Episode 1, we went to Pier 88, and for Episode 2, a local place called Mahoney's. Once quarantine and social isolation became a thing, we have had to adjust our series. In April, Jess tested out a new recipe for the World's Best Chocolate Cake. (You can find these on our What's the Deal playlist. • What's The Deal )
Since we are currently not eating inside of restaurants, we have adapted our series for now by doing drive-through and take out. In this latest episode, Jess surprised us by OFFERING to try Zaxby’s chicken tenders again. Every single time I have ever asked her if she wants them, she has said no. Hannah and I were so impressed that she offered to try them since that’s where Hannah and I wanted to drive through to grab a quick salad.
Will her opinion change this time?

Jess is 31-years-old, autistic, and blind. Her favorite topics of conversation include getting a new dog, her friend Keely, her Aunt Sue, and cousin Donna. Jess collects CD’s of children’s music, cards, coloring books, and has a small collection of used up disposable cameras that she refuses to get developed. Favorite health foods include chicken and rice, chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, chicken biscuits, pepperoni pizza, and hash brown potatoes. Jess has naturally curly hair that she would rather not ever comb, brush, or cut.
Jessica’s multiple disabilities stem from brain damage that occurred in-utero, and from hydrocephalus. In addition to autism and blindness, Jess also has minor fine motor and gross motor deficits.

Living over in dry California and watching how beautiful it is over there makes me want to move 🤣 I miss the rain and believe it or not, green grass and just greenery in general!
