What's the Deal With BFS RODS?! [How to Choose]

Those of us that have been fishing primarily with ultra light spinning tackle for many years don’t have too many problems adjusting to BFS rods. To me, theres nothing wrong with turning a spinning rod blank into a baitcasting rod, they work very well for finesse fishing, especially now with the new reels with low inertia spools that can cast the same light weight lures we have always been using for spinning. The guide train is different but the BFS casting rods I recently got have wonderful actions and a lot of fun to use, its nice to have diversity of fishing tools. If you are used to power bass fishing, these rods may not take that punishment, but ultra light fisherman know the limitations of light tackle and how to get the most out of them - failure more likely to occur because of poor design or careless handling, rather than breaking on a fish.

@@barry4fish thankfully I haven’t broken any more BFS rods since this video! I do mostly work with budget-end gear so quality control along with user error likely explained my initial difficulties. Thanks for watching 😎

I to have had issues with a lot of bfs rods. Coming from a tournament bass fishing background I have had many bfs rod failures. They are delicate and boat or bank flipping is a no no. I have recently found one that I love. The Handing Magic L. It is by far the toughest one i have seen so far. You have to kiss alot of frogs before you get the princess. I have a sougayilang 6ft ul rod that I purchased from Wal-Mart online paired up with a zephyr. I am very pleased with it .I also have a diawa spinmatic ul 7ft rod which is great for texas rigged baits

Great info. CDM rods are a hit or miss at times but once in a while you find some good ones. Tight lines.
