What's The Deal With Long Standard International Cartridges?

most waterman are long only and are quite popular in france.

Interesting ! In India atleast, there are some really cheap plastic fountain pens targetting curious students and all of them come with the long cartridge. Infact, I don't think I've seen an indian manufacturer providing a short cartridge with their pen.

Monteverdi sells cartridges with a Lamy tip on one end and Standard on the other end. The cartridge is the same size and a Lamy.

I've always seen these, are they good? I'd always worry that something might cause them to leak out either end.

@@fiachrahackett I never had a problem. The Monteverdi black is blacker than Lamy's black.

There is a reason, why shorts are more widely common. First they store in boxes more easily, but also you keep two shorts in the barrel. One is being used the other backwards but full. When the first cartridge runs dry, swap the two cartridges. Change the empty cartridge for a full one when the opportunity presents. Unless you use a lot of ink, you never run dry.

I've not seen them for sale much in the UK, especially in bricks & mortar shops, but German brands like Pelikan you have there are available. I have a suspicion that long cartridges are more common in mainland Europe.

are all feeds and nibs the same ? I had a standard int size pen , I changed the nib and feed now it won't write , the international cartilage just falls off

Do you happen to have any other preferred inks you intentionally go after that are sold in the standard international long cartridges, in addition to the one from Pelikan you introduce here? Have you ever found any good sources for acquiring empty standard international long cartridges one can use as a syringe filler for fountain pens they can fit into?
