Thanks . What ideal thickness of MIP is ideal for nodules detection? Is the a preference between lung filter or standard filter for the applying of the mip ?
@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology 2 жыл бұрын
For lung nodules, usually 8-10 mm. The lung filter is good with thin slices bc it accentuates sharpness. MIPs will negate the effect of having sharp images. Smooth filters are typically used for MIPs.

Thanks, wish my doctor knows as much as you, they still couldn't figure out what's wrong with my lung, no medicine nor any care, been struggling for a very long time, just don't know what to do now....

Be patient , chest problems as not straight forward ! These are lectures! Real life is way more complicated especially in lung and respiratory matters.

Crystal clear presentation. Some things I've heard before just started to make sense in my head. My question is whether you have any experience with using MIP images for lung stereotactic radiotherapy. For motion management, 4D-CT is basic, but the volume is greater than the volume we would irradiate in a blocked position, such as deep inspiration breath hold. Some say that there is the danger of omitting the tumor craniocaudally when you use DIBH, since you don't see it properly. I would like to know your perspective on that.

Hi, I'm not a radiation oncologist, so can't speak to this as well as a specialist. What I know from trying to biopsy lung nodules is that the nodules at the lung bases (close to the diaphragm) do move up and down quite a bit during respiration. As for the MIP question, no the MIP would not help any more than a regular CT. Thanks.

Great video! I received an image of my lungs from a CT scan I just had and I’ve been wondering why my lungs look taken over by big, “branches”, not really seeing much air space at all. Looked like no other images I could find of lungs Ct scan.. was driving me a bit nuts lol .. only to see they are using MIP. Anyway, enjoyed your video! Thank you

Does anyone find inverted lung windows of use with the MIP's? I have seen a radiologist that likes them for his images. Worth doing?
@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology Ай бұрын
Never have done this before, no. I know some people who like to invert chest X-rays to look at bones. Never heard of anyone inverting CTs before.
