From an old musician's standpoint, I find her as an immensely talented musician of the first class. Her ability to cross over numerous styles with perfection in performance says it all. Anyone who says this young lady is not a legitimate super talent is misguided.

She came to my house in Burbank, CA back in 2009. I sold her a mini oven from a Craigslist ad that belonged to my friend. She wore skimpy daisy duke shorts. I had band equipment setup at the house and she mentioned she plays Cello. She was like 21 at the time and probably the most beautiful woman that was ever in that house. She’s got all the discipline and connections and she’s done big things in the music industry.

Impressive lady. I live on top of a mountain and don’t get out much. I apologize about not knowing anything about her. Any instrument can become a metal tool. It’s the person, attitude, and ability of the musician.

I've covered her music in ReGen once or twice, and I know she worked briefly with your ex-Society 1 band mate Matt Zane. I've heard that she also plays on Hans Zimmer's score for the new DUNE movie. Spoke to her once, and she was really nice. As a former metalhead, I think it's awesome to have a musician like her performing metal with a different instrument. Metal, like any musical genre, should not be about the instrument, but the sound and the style, how it makes you feel, and what it does to your heart and mind.

Professional cellist here. Tina has the chops but what makes her stand out is that she is very business savvy as well. I know dozens of super talented classical musicians that are crap at marketing themselves and their success is limited. With Tina, you get the whole package. She is what Nita Strauss is to the guitar.

Tina Guo; Super Model, Super Musician, Super Cool? You decide!!! I think she carries her traditional instrument and shook up the status quo. This is a good thing. Much like Hu, or Heavy Metal Monks, this is taking something we might not consider metal and making it so. It sorta proves Metal is for EVERYONE! You go Tina!!! 🤟🤟🤟🤟

The album is pronounced Day-S R A. Which means loosely “day’s of wrath” or day’s of tribulation”It is a medieval Latin poem characterized by its accentual stress and rhymed lines. The metre is trochaic. The poem describes the Last Judgment, trumpet summoning souls before the throne of God, where the saved will be delivered and the unsaved cast into eternal flames. Very Metal!

I have been aware of her classical work for sometime, but the first efforts by her to crossover into the rock world that noticed were a number of years ago when she would show up and participate in the Ultimate Jam Nights hosted by ex-Quiet Riot and Giuffria bassist Chuck Wright at the Lucky Strike in Hollywood. Several videos can be found of her and well-established rockers playing covers such as "Kashmir" on KZbin.

Any typical classically-trained cellist could play rock music because rock is like kindergarten-level skills compared to Bach. But they just don't play rock, for various reasons including cultural bias against rock music within the classically trained and within the classical music education system. She is more than simply a skilled cellist, she is a world-class top cellist, that's like Tom Brady NFL Quarterback level, and just as there are those unique top-level players in the world, there is only one Tina Guo in the world.

Max, it is artists/musicians/people like Tina who put the "zing" back into music which gets boring and repetitive over time. Imagine of Yngwie was your bread and butter heavy metal meat head without the classical influence? He'd be boring, right? I once showed up to a heavy metal gig in a suit and tie (I played in a hard rock band that night). When a few meat heads wanted to beat me up because of my attire, I referred them to Angus Young's school uniform. They then went away scratching their heads. I have always edged on with those that are too narrow minded. I was kicked out of my own hard rock band because my meat head band members saw my jazz collection at home. They said that this was embarrassing and could no longer work with me. Especially when I started collaborating with fusion players, that was the final straw for the meat heads. Anyway, Tina is cool, she has captured a niche and she's doing extremely well. Any mixing of cultures, music or art is welcome.

Wow two of my favorite musician youtubers in one video! Yup! Tina Guo and My Little Pony. 😆 I wish heavy metal musicians were as educated as Tina Guo is in classical music, although she did drop out of university in order to play gigs so her academic training is not as complete as it could be. 🎼 AFTER ALL, it's the 5th Beatle, the classically-trained producer, who made The Beatles famous by taking their pop songs to the next level by using Classical Music Theory and Orchestral Theory. Anyways you missed the important fact that she has Perfect Pitch. 🎵 On an instrument which requires daily intonation practice, and has no frets, that is a pretty phenomenal gift to have. I think Tina Guo rocks. However it's unfortunate she has to project so much skin and sex-appeal in order to keep moving forward in the Music Industry. Physical appeal and sex appeal is a huge flaw in the Music Industry which is supposed to be about Music not about Booty. Cello as an instrument is very highly regarded in classical music to the point where I've heard classical musicians say that if they could be born as an orchestral instrument, they would want it to be a cello. The timbre and range and expressivity is unmatched in any other instrument. Only Euphonium comes close to it in timbre and range in my opinion. Tina Guo is also one of the FEW classical musicians who dares to push electric pickups into the orchestra, with her electric cello. The stigma AGAINST use of electronic instruments within a classical music context is still very real even in 2021, which is the snobbish, elitist, ivory tower bias of those who control the classical genre.

I believe it is pronounced "Deez Ee-ray" and it is a Latin hymn going back hundreds of years. If I remember correctly, it refers to the coming day of the wrath of God. Fun fact, in one of the Anne Rice book vampire books.... I want to say where LeStat originally meets the vampires of Paris? They are a group of nihilists who are dancing to this before going out to feed for the night.

Ouch! "Is she just another pretty face?" I'm hearing that more and more lately. I was hanging out with a musician recently and he was bashing a female musician friend behind her back saying that she just made it because she was a pretty face. I wanted to tell him that girl he was bashing is such a better musician than him. Why does that question have to be asked? I never hear women go "Is he just another pretty face?" It does go both ways. There are so many guys who hit the level they are because women looked at them as being hot. Can you imagine the level of success if a lot of those 80s glam bands had ugly singers? Even in the that Motley Crue movie The Dirt, they mentioned how they wanted to find a real ladies man when searching for Vince Neil. I read Lita Ford's book and she mentions the level of difficulty for women in the rock industry because they are not taken seriously. By the way, I didn't take offense by your statement because I know where you are going and you were trying to justify Tina's talent.
