Did you spot the differences?

I know this is 2 years old, but it might still benefit from having the stitch names in the title (not just relying on the thumbnail). Very clear & helpful video!

I was also questioning myself. That’s why I’m here 😆 Thanks for clarifying and demonstrating.

So, a blanket stitch just has the thread twisting around each other once, and the buttonhole has an actual knot at the edge.

what is a pivoting stitch in hand sewing?
@ThimbleAndPlume
@ThimbleAndPlume 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I have not heard of a hand stitch called a pivoting stitch. You do pivot the buttonhole stitches around the ends of a buttonhole, but that's really just the angle that you place each individual stitch as you go around to the other side. Do you have an example of what you are thinking about? I may know it by a different name

Oh, dear, I´m doing it for like 40 years wrong!!! That´s why my buttonwholes look like ***!!! Thank you very much! (And I can see my granny shaking her head there where she now is and thinking "oh, child, why don´t you pay attention?") :D

I'm so glad that it helped! There is so much conflicting info out there and it makes it difficult, but having that little extra twist really does make a difference in your buttonholes!

@@stancalung5186 That's Southwest, yes? I've done some dress research in that area. Someday I hope to visit Germany. Currently I am trying to learn how to speak it...but I am not very good at it. Lol. I would love to hear your long story someday!
