I am not a seamstress, but I have a frayed edge on a shirt that I thought would be nice to repair with something decorative that looks like the dense stitching done for buttonholes. I spent an hour looking at videos, blogs, pictures of people doing one or the other stitch (which looked suspiciously similar to my untrained eye, but what do I know -- I don't sew) and not one person made the distinction -- or link -- that they are, in fact, the SAME stitch! :) Anyway -- thanks for the video: clear, concise, easy to follow and you do beautiful work!

Good morning. I love buttonhole stitch. I learned it in 1975 while I was in the hospital after having my 1st child. A girl in the bed across from mine was putting a blanket stitch edge on a blanket for her new baby. Yes my hospital used to have wards where 6 or 8 women were all together after giving birth. It is a great stitch. Thank you for showing your stitch pieces. I need to check out that heart video. Thank you

I'm fairly new to embroidery, gonna make a beautiful stitch sampler. I've been doing lots of collages on fabric squares with stitches, bored of these now. Really useful videos as I get stuck how to start on herringbone and how to start off applique blanket stitch. Enjoying learning new stitches. I even embroidered a bee earlier, so I'm doing okay with my stitches. I need one of those vintage bobbin reels now to wind it around.

Good morning, love your teaching style! I have a vintage quilted patch work Christmas tree skirt that was started to come apart. The seam allowances were not consistent so unfortunately Iit was not possible to make a seamless hidden repair. On its own right it is a beautiful piece and my repair work although necessary detracts from the piece. I've come up with the idea that if I do decorative embroidery over all the I intersecting seams I could enhance the piece and take it to the next level. The quilt pattern is a multi pointed star in a Christmas paisley and all the other blocks are natural muslin. I'm thinking I could use the major green to do the stitches on the paisley seams and the change to something else for the muslin blocks. My dilemma is should I choose just one stitch and if so which on or should I do a variety of stitches. In the end if I do this I think it will end up with a "crazy quilt" look. As it is an heirloom piece I think it would be worth the effort as we conto pass it down through future generations. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

As for myself with the butterfly, I would have replaced the chain with your cross stitch or seed stitch. Chain isn't as beautiful as your stitching. Love your teaching
