Matt, another great informative video for a beginner looking for his first helmet. Loved the science showing the MIPS advantage. Thank you !!

At 66 years old I've never worn a helmet ⛑️, however this next year SHALL be different. Thanks for the info because I'm in the market for a new helmet.

Thanks, glad it helped! Hopefully you never have to benefit from the MIPS ever but at least you know it’s there if you need it!!

I fell off my mountain bike travelling approximately 15 mph.. it was a freak accident because I fell backwards landing on my back (thankfully my rucksack cushioned the fall but the back of my head hit the road leaving a big dent in the back of my helmet.. because of the helmet and the mips technology I didn't suffer any injuries (didn't feel a thing). I wasn't aware of how damaged my helmet was (could of been my head)until I arrived home .. Strongly recommend a helmet (mips) guys

Wow, thanks for sharing. Scary to hear but goes to show the importance of the MIPS safety features.

Does MIPS work when your straps aren't that tight? It seems like they should be really tight for it to work.
@PeterGlennSports9 ай бұрын
Yes and no. The straps are there to keep the helmet in place on your head but in general (MIPS or not) you want to have a helmet that fits comfortably snug on your head no matter how tight the chin strap is. Check out this video about proper helmet fit for a great visual explanation-> kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqDRp4miptqYeJY

Hit a tree this week snowboarding, and took a impact to my head, probably have a mild concussion, how do I determine if my helmet is still good ? Smith Level
@PeterGlennSports2 күн бұрын
Oh no! Feel better! Check the fit to see if it feels snug and secure still, but if you're in doubt replace it. Helmets are only designed to take one significant impact, so if you took a hard hit it's safer to get a new one.

is the mips helmet bigger at all?
@PeterGlennSports Жыл бұрын
No, it's just a thin piece added to the inside under the padding.

Sir can i use this helmet for a motorcycle too?
@PeterGlennSports8 ай бұрын
Definitely would not, not going to meet the specifications for a motor vehicle.

does this "mips" system seem like a massive con to add an extra 2-300 £$ to a helmet? seriously what use is a bit of foam that moves slightly as your head is bashed onto the ground. the inside foam will move regardless. What does this thing actually do other than add lots of money.
@PeterGlennSports5 ай бұрын
@@sashacoe25 like Matt said in the video, it slows down the rotational trauma caused by the brain moving inside your skull upon an abrupt stop when your head/helmet comes in contact with something. The rest of the foam takes up the impact trauma. Most of the companies have more MIPS helmets nowadays than not because the price difference is not as crazy as it seems. You’ll find that if you compare the EXACT same helmet in non-MIPS vs MIPS (ie Sweet Protection Winder, Giro Ledge, Anon Rodan, etc) is usually only a $20-$40 difference. And for significantly reducing any trauma to the brain it’s MORE than worth it.
