I don't think Two Notes intention was to compare the two products, but rather use them in conjunction with each other (it even says it in the manuals). The point of the Opus/CAB M+ was to provide IR/cab emulation (the Opus just kicks it up a notch with some built in pre-amps if required). The point of the Revolt is to work as the actual pedalboard amp and has the benefit of the footswitches and "feel" of analog technology (yes it does have one built in cab Sim, but I think this is more for an emergency or for the minimalist that doesn't even use Cab emulation or Ir's). When combining the two together (putting the Opus in the effects loop of the Revolt, and a XLR from the Revolt to FOH), you basically have the ultimate rig. The analog Fender/Marshall/SLO amps from the Revolt can now be modified by the cab sims of the Opus, giving tons of different tonal options. Also keep in mind that for the gigging musician, the Opus isn't the most user friendly since it doesn't even have foot switches. The Revolt is meant to be the gigging machine that can be easily switched from a clean sound to a dirty sound in an instant. I think if you use midi (which I don't), you should even be able to combine each Revolt footswitch with a different cab from the Opus. The thought of being able to go from a 1x12 Deluxe Reverb to a Marshall Stack in an instant is extremely appealing. Digital and Analog living in harmony.

I would love to see a video using the Revolt with the Opus. Be nice to see if I hang onto the REvolt and use with an Opus OR just the Opus on it's own! YES PLEASE! Nice work gents!

I brought the OPUS because of the good price for the this unit. Most of the other units like analog preamp of friedman, ox-stomp and so on are for me to expensive. For me everything above €350 must be really really good ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾 I'm very happy with this unit and it fit my HX-Stomp perfectly. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾

I'm thinking about buying one but I don't see the Opus as practical for playing live... Wouldn't it be better to recommend the Opus for the studio and the Revolt for playing LIVE? The buttons make a big difference, although the Opus would give me more cabinet sounds, bending down to change the cabinet sound each time... is not the best, also the sound of the tube (call me old style) I think it helps the sound more in alive.

The Analog DI from the revolt is just a backup, I‘m using it with a Mooer Radar as IR loader and because of Power amp sim and EQ. But the opus should be a big upgrade to that.

Great video and honest review. I have been using two notes since the first torpedo CAB with Le clean and Le bass. I updated my CAB to CABm. But I skipped the ReVolt because I didn't see any benefit from having the previous preamps. I'll get the opus and I'll see what will happen to the preamps. If there is no major difference using digital preamps, I'll get more space in my pedalboard 😁

I was really pleasantly surprised at how good the digital preamps in the Opus sounded! In the end it’s mostly more space on the pedalboard…it’s an ‘all in one’ version of what you already have…possibly slightly better algorithms due to it being newer but in the end it’s really about making it small and compact! I still use an old CAB at home a fair bit - some of my amps run through a Captor and then into the old CAB and I think it still sounds just as good. Less options but the DynIR side of it still sounds really good!!

I find both products odd. The market is finally heading towards more and more all self contained very user friendly product. The bulk of the market is amateurs that buy golf clubs in the summer and guitar gear in the winter. Even the heavy into home recording guys for the most part would scratch their heads. Thanx for keeping use in the loop no matter what it is.

I think it’s a really easy to use pedalboard amp that you can put at the end of your pedalboard and use with headphones - I always prefer this kinda stuff over the all in one multi fx and amp sim thing as I like to use my pedals I have collected over the years and not something within a multi fx environment…but that’s me I guess!! I really like this…I genuinely think this is one of the better modelers available right now!!

@@TSFAHTPS Agree. I have a Cab M, had a Cab before that. Both have been key pieces on my main pedalboard for probably over a decade now. Practice, rehearsals, gigs, studio sessions, all of that stuff. Except for a brief period where I trimmed it down to a Helix Stomp instead. Didn't last long... soon the Cab was back along with it, with the Helix cab sims turned off. Just sounded better. Then the Helix came off, with a couple of pedals in its place. Just way easier to do little adjustments for various rooms, moods, backlines, and so on. (Stages never never sound like home or studio, or each other. Menu diving in a Helix up there, under time pressure... no thanks!) But... I've been getting by for a while with no preamp on that board other than the one in the Cab-M. Which allowed me to go ligher/smaller and leave the LeBass permanently on a bigger board, but lost the midi I had with the original Cab. (The big board has a full Source Audio Neuro setup, including their midi footswitch.) And I do still have the Helix around for guitar use. The Opus would very handily eliminate all of those minor compromises, plus replace the Helix (which would probably pay for it). Multi-units... been there, done that, just prefer the Two Notes + a few versatile pedals solution, for me. (FWIW, I usually keep my amp/cab stuff the same for entire sets, everything else including room tweaks happens on the pedals. So lack of knobs is no big deal. Might be for some, though.)

I'd say it is Opus Magnum of this company, (hence the name?) :-) Sim pedals/multi effects in 99% of cases disappoint me, but this is not the case... What a great piece of gear! :-)

You can control all the parameters with the two knobs on the Opus…it’s a bit of menu diving but you can control it with knobs!!
@jeremiahmiller3310

@@TSFAHTPSI honestly find those two knob/buttons and that screen way easier to operate in a crunch than my Helix. Fewer fiddly things to keep track of what they do, and they always behave the same way in each of only two modes. (Helix always felt like "this thing does this in this context and something else in another, and yet another thing in another". Easy to get snarled up in.) And the menu layout is so much simpler. With one hand on each knob, can get anywhere in it way faster IMO.

Well…they are but they are also not. They are both products that you can use to go direct in a live scenario or for a recording…they are both made by the same company…one is analogue and one is digital…but in the end they are both products you can use as standalone units or in conjunction with an amp…so yeah they are different products but they are also very similar products
