We have so many great gaming mice on the market these days, but they're starting to get a bit "safe" and boring, because the formula has basically been perfected for ... well, sales. It's hard to get excited, but it's never been easier to give recommendations. So where to now? What's the next step?
Just wanted to give some thoughts on the industry and where it needs to go next, as well as some news on what I've been up to and what's to come. I'll have some announcements and updates over the next year (it's a long process), so stay tuned, I don't know how much time I'll have for content but will try to make more videos.
Here are the links mentioned in the video for my books, pad and mice.

The irony when he spoke about the mouse 😂😂😂😂 To be honest, when I switched from a Basilisk V3 to a normal OP1, there were so many changes. The weight was cut by halved from 100-110g to around 50g, the thumb rest on the side was removed and it’s also slightly more narrow. The clicks are very light & easy to press, with the same going for the side buttons. To be honest, this mouse is pure perfection for me. I was actually thinking of getting the OP1 8K, but it was just out of stock before my mother managed to buy it, so I went with the OG version. I’m thinking of getting the 8K version, even if it’ll cost an extra $20.

When it comes to shapes, makes me sad how we don't have much to choose from. Even the once classic MX518 shape isn't available in lightweight version - mouse industry playing it so safe that we can't even have a proper thumb groove anymore for better grip! Thumb groove gives the option to more effectively squeeze the mouse if necessary, which improves control for some players (just as the control can be better when the player has the option to push the mouse into mousepad when stopping). I'll always have respect for RJN for coming up with the MZ1 shape which was actually something different. Was disappointing to see how many of the reviewers couldn't celebrate innovation, and instead gave reduced review scores because the MZ1 shape didn't happen to suit their personal preference.
@RocketJumpNinja
@RocketJumpNinja Ай бұрын
Funnily enough a few of the other reviewers eventually came around to it... after they gave it enough time and got used to the shape, which is why I'm trying to stress that as a community, we need to give mice a proper chance. 3 weeks is what it took me to get used to the Razer Diamondback, so that's the mark I set. And yeah agreed, it's just too safe now, we gotta start encouraging risks.

Can't wait to see your new projects. I'm hoping to see something a little wider without the holes and RGB. I really liked the MZ1 wireless, I even modified it with a smaller battery to better suit my needs, but unfortunately after a while I started getting hand cramps. My aim was really good (same as w G PRO Wireless) and I think there was potential to be a bit better, but my consistency was worse, and the cramps remained even after 3 months. Unfortunately, the worst thing was the quality control. After 3 months, I was having trouble double clicking the left button. I tried adjusting the screw position first, then the debounce setting, but I didn't feel safe playing with debounce at 8ms. The only solution was to change the switches. Luckily, I had spare switches on hand when I changed them on my G PRO Wireless.

I think the next advancement in mice tech should be the addition of hall effect switches for the clicks, like what Wooting keyboards have.
@Visstnok
@Visstnok Ай бұрын
Wootings are just the best. Speaking of what's next, I wish they'd make a keyboard that you could plug your mouse into, and it would merge with the function layer system. I've gotten so used to pressing Alt or Win in my games as a modifier for other keys, and I really wish I could extend this to the mouse buttons. I know Razer has something similar called Hypershift, but it's _extremely_ lackluster and requires keyboard and mouse that are both Razer.

I'd love for more of a push for ergonomics. We like our traditions and often play it safe but lets start looking at our hands and ask ourself If we continue to game for the next 15years is it going to be sustainable with the positions we put our wrists in while aiming?

Recently I've thought the same thing. Right now, sensors and switches have gotten so good, but there is one common problem that every company is sharing, "safe" shapes. I always bought a mouse based on your opinion and reviews, the first was back in 2018. I've tried a lot of your top choices, but every one of them always had a strange feeling. Right now, I've been using a Deathadder V3 wired for almost a year, but I found myself in multiple situations thinking that this mouse is missing something. One day, I decided to take a look in my storage and found some old mice, but one stood out from the others, the Rival 310! I immediately decided to feel it again and man... this mouse is crazy good in ergo and feeling for today's standards, so much better compared to a Deathadder V3. So now I've made a decision, i'm gonna mod it by using some TTC Gold switches, a new Kailh encoder, some PTFE skates and if possible some weight reduction. After all of those years there is still a lot of potential in that shape. Thank you for what you have done all these years, you have always been the one I trusted for mice recommendations, and I will continue to do so.

I am tired of switches failing and having to solder in new ones. When I tried earlier razer optical switches they were unusable because they were not spamable. They wouldn't register fast clicks. Like firing semi auto weapons fast like my old g303. Are there optical switch designs that allow that now?

I switched from potato Superlight to Pulsar xlite v2 wireless, it was little too small for my hands and extremely light, I gave it a go for 30 days, moved on to EC2 CW, the shape, perfect, the weight, perfect. I love it, I know this is the mouse for me, I never knew why I missed the shot, or why I had to adjust my hand everytime, now with the zowie ec2cw I know why Ive missed, I know what to improve on, my hand is always at the same place, my fingers always know where to be on the mouse, I can hold it for a whole day and have no issues. Trial and error

Think that's why I like gwolves so much cause they will toss some random designs along with the safe ones

shape is indeed king, my favorite shape so far is the XTRFY M42, with the hump(not the low standard one which is more like FK2 shape). furthermore the side buttons and click feel on the xtrfy is extremely solid. i have also logitech superlight pro x, but i don't like egg shape because it makes it difficult to switch between relaxed claw and tight claw which i find to be very natural. i dont like to play with a fully locked claw all the time. my hand is about 17.5, 9.5 but i still would like to have a little longer mouse and maybe an even higher hump. it weighs around 70 grams compared to logitech superlight that weighs 60 gram but still prefer it. another king shape for me is razer viper. but there is no wireless version which is a bit sad. heard good things bout the ninjutsu sora v2 with extended hump so gonna try that as my next mouse.

One industry trend I absolutely hate is the removal of the top dpi button for weight saving. I don't use it for dpi switching but rather for profile switching so I can freely switch between a desktop and gaming config for my mouse. Nowadays almost none of the fps focused mice are including that button and I'm stuck between using two different mice or using one old sub-optimal mouse for my setup. And how much weight does removing that button save anyway?

It would be sick if you are making a mouse for the palm enjoyers, so hard to get a good shape for it. The zowie is so heavy and the stormbreaker has little grip because of the left side slits.

I wish my the mz1 wireless was optical switches, mine has been double clicking on both buttons 4 months after purchase. Sent it back to pccasegear for a replacement and they said that nothing is wrong with it after failing to correctly test the issue.

mice have been great lately, but hopefully we get more options in terms of different weights. personally am not a fan of very light mice. I still main the wired g pro hero, so hopefully 80-ish gram modern mice become a thing

Being a left-handed fps gamer I have always struggled to find a light weight ambidextrous option with buttons on the right side of the mouse (using the blanking covers for left side) Currently using the Logitech G pro wireless and have tested Pulsar X2A and razer viper ultimate. The G Pro is the best fit but is on the heavy side. If anyone has suggestions that would be great!

My friend and me made the mod for my g300s shell. I used the interiors of a g pro wireless (A razer viper v2 would be better but i don't have one) and I freaking love it. I didn't find a similar shape or a mod for the mouse, so I said, fuck it, i'll try it, and it when pretty well. I'm proud of our creation cx

I have small hands and I'm yet to find a mouse that I can perform better with than with Intellimouse 3.0/pro. And I've tried most of the mixe that vaxee, xtrfy, razer, logitech, zowie, roccat and lamzu have to offer.
