There is an underground railroad that goes through Monroe, Michigan, many old houses in downtown are connected to it, and the Dorsch library was a station of it.

Utica had a stop. Its a very interestingly story and history is found in the Utica, Library. A farmer and wife housed slaves but also hid them in a spring house on their property when slave hunters came looking for them. The slaves would know which house to go to by an unusual tree on the property. There is much more to the story. Eventually, Mohammed Ali bought the property and turned it into a horse ranch. The house and spring house are gone but the history is still there.
