step dad was stationed in iraq. one of his pals lost his rifle so he had to carry around a cardboard "rifle of shame" he could never let it out of his sight. it was so embarrassing for him. after he went back home, he put it on his wall and wrote "NEVER FORGET"

In Basic training, our drill instructor came in to do an inspection, and apparently about half the beds weren't made properly. He flipped the mattresses of those beds onto the floor and told us all we were going to teach the ladies who couldn't make a bed how to do it. But before we were allowed to do that, we had to stand against the wall at attention with our right arms extended, and twist our wrists in a flipping motion. Then we had to yell out, "You want fries with that SIR?!" as he walked from one side of the barracks to the other. It was divided into two bays with a wall between them As soon as he left our bay and went to the other side, the chick whose bunk was exactly opposite our bay from mine and I just busted out laughing. By the time he was back in our bay, we were back at attention flipping imaginary burgers. As we got the bunks of our neighbors squared away, the girl across the bay and I started talking. Both of us actually HAD worked fast food jobs before joining up, and both of us didn't have our mattresses flipped. So I guess it struck both of us funny at the same time, "Hey, I *did* work for McDonalds and my bunk is awesome. The ones who got flipped probably haven't." Side note: The chick in the bay across from me ended up going to the same tech school and the same permanent duty station as me, so we stayed buds for the entire time we were in.

Saw a guy ordered to drain a retention pond with a bucket. He had to pour thenwater into a drain that led to the retention pond.

Story 1: In my family for whatever reason all of the guys are really short until we turn about 16 years old. For my brother's 16th birthday one of his friends gave him a phone book with "Seat Boost 2000" written on it as a joke gift.
