The Stihl looks like it has a tapered end. That would make a big difference in the battery test, as the air would be directed into a smaller, more powerful area.

That's fair. I didn't notice that it was tapered but yes that could have played a very slight part in it.

Entertaining and informative. For my ½ acre property, although about a ⅓ of it is not in need of leaf blowing, I recently picked up the BR450 after researching and taking into account that I'm not using it in a commercial capacity as well as budget. I'm satisfied. As long as I blow my leaves each week, I won't have huge piles to move. Something I noticed is that all Stihl models are made with aesthetics in mind with the way they have their orange shroud covering most of all the inner workings along with the fuel tank design when compared to other models. I also think the scoreboard for the battery test may have had a typo as it shows Stihl BR600 rather than the tested model BR800X. Thanks for the comparisons.

I’ve had my stihl 800 mag for two years, I’m still amazed by the power. Dry leaf’s,wet leaf’s, acorn’s, stick’s, snakes, and snow are not a problem for the 800. Take the 800 vs 9010.. 41 Newton's versus 47 Newtons. If 9010 finishes an hour long job 3 minutes faster than the 800. In 620 hrs it's finished 1,860 minutes faster or 31 hrs faster for the year. So if I bill out at 70$ per man hour I just made 2,170$ more in the same 620 period than the 800. $2170 - $623 (fuel cost difference) = 1547$ more profit in 620 hrs. Multiply that out by 5 9010s for the crew and that 7,735$ per year more revenue. We use BR600's for everyday use but the 90/80-10's come out in the Spring/Fall cleanups here in Michigan..

i have had all the blowers to blow big piles of leaves echo beat stihl by far and by a lot of distance. the redmax and husky were about 1 foot less in the blowing distance then the echo 9010. on acorns the Stihl was great at getting them out of the grass compared to the others. In my opinion id buy a echo redmax or husky for leaf power and if you deal with a lot of acorns then use a Stihl for that if you don't deal with acorns a lot I would not waste the money on the Stihl and stay with echo redmax or husky but the echo is a lot louder then all the others and you definitely want hearing protection running the echo.

Nice video comparison. Will definitely consider buying the Echo. Had another Echo backpack years ago. Was best quality blower I ever owned. Own a Redmax now. A good blower but have had fuel issue in less than a year (used Stihl 2 cycle oil) in it and caused major repair issue. So I buy the Redmax mix, but not happy the other 2 cycle mix(es) can't be used in it. And the Redmax is more cheaply made (shoulder straps worn out in less than a year...never happened at all with the Echo I had for 8 years). So, I won't be buying a RedMax again. Which has the longer tube?
@f9qo Жыл бұрын
Doesn't the size of the opening at the end of the tube affect the amount of force exiting? Wider opening gives greater width distribution of force but less power at any given point. I have the Zenoah, the Japan distribution of Redmax. I love the hip control. It has been great, especially after putting in chest and hip straps for better stability on my back.
@mensaswede4028 Жыл бұрын
Of course it does. There is no one number that can fully quantify the effectiveness of the airstream. That’s why there is mph (speed) and CFM (volume), and depending on what you’re doing with the blower you care about one number or the other. So the idea that “Newtons” is somehow better is nonsense.

Every time our br800 runs into a pinch and can’t move a pile, they pull me and my PB9010 to get it done. It’s clear to our crew that the 9010 is supreme. When I put on the br800, it feels and performs like a junior model, a step down.

The battery blow test is worthless in my opinion. I bought the 9010T Echo after running the Husqvarna 580 for about 8 years. That Husqvarna was built tough, fuel efficient and was still running strong when I sold it. The Echo 9010 blew its doors off when it comes to leaves and debris movement. One of my competitors bought the Stihl because of weight and fuel efficiency for his guys. We swapped blowers for a few lawns in the same area we were working. The Stihl did not come close to moving the volume of debris as the Echo. The Echo doesn't feel as heavy to me as advertised, but I'm a big guy. But the Stihl was noticeably lighter. I would even say more comfortable over Echo. Also the Echo is louder and sounds like a dirt bike. With that said, the echo improved my clean up times dramatically. I'm not talking 5 minutes, more like saving 15 minutes on average lawns I do being solo. The negatives of the 9010 after using it since it came out. No chest strap, if you're wearing a windbreaker etc type jacket, it wants to slide off no matter how you adjust it. The tube where you rotate wears easily and gets stuck and there's nothing offered for recall as far as I know. Fuel isn't really an issue. It knocks out jobs so fast I hardly run it more than a few mins on normal jobs and rarely at full throttle unless it's wet material. No need to. At the end of the day I value efficiency and time savings. But the older I get I value COMFORT even more. I've strongly been considering the Stihl for the lighter normal season stuff and reserving the Echo 9010 for the heavy load work. But I currently use the Echo daily along with the best hand held blower no longer made, the Hitachi. At the end of the day these blowers like all equipment are bought based on crew size, needs, properties and reliability and toughness. I think wise business owners need to run each of them before buying. What works for me, may not work for you.

Excellent presentation and editing on the video guys. About the only thing I thought could be added would be to actually drain/measure the fuel after the 32oz run time test was finished. Some fuel may have been left because of the pickup height and angle. Different models may have the pickup tilted or higher/lower when wearing the device . Your data still shows fuel efficiency. 21 years in this game. Pound for pound our firm moves more leaves and cuts more grass than any other. I have decades of experience with all of these blowers. Here are a few things that I know. Husqvarna and red max are the exact same blower just different color. Redundant test there. The most nimble blower is the Stihl. Most powerful blower is the Echo. The best all around blower is the Red Max. Pound for pound the Stihl is best. If you have young and strong team members the Echo is the best. Some of our older staff members prefer the Stihl or the mid model Echos. The best blower for you and your team is different based on your physical makeup as well as that of your team. Good luck.

Buddy of mine runs the echos. I run a crew using br430s being lighter and able to move faster we run laps around his crews on cleanups. Those 430s have the same power than my br600s (even if the specs say otherwise) Stihl all day. Reliability and light weight. Best blowers in the business. I own stihls, echos, husq, red max and prorun. We choose our stihls each day and for cleanups. It’s just user preference on the “echo vs stihl” battle.

The problem with the Echo is nobody can move the tube back and forth for long periods of time. The tube is very stiff and hard to sweep back and forth so the guys after about 15 minutes just hold it straight out and stop sweeping with it. That is when the other blowers start to pass it up in productivity. I have them all and the 800 is the most comfortable to use. Not saying it is the best but the guys all go for the 800

Thank you for sharing. We've found that most users are on the same page regarding Echo's tube & Stihl's comfortability. If only both those features could be merged in one blower...

Try the Echo without the middle tube on. Just the end nozzle. It's like a different blower. Very easy to sweep with then and still effective.

do you think there will ever be a battery powered leaf blower that will be better than a gas/petrol leaf blower?
@mainstreetmower2 жыл бұрын
Ever? Yes, but not anytime real soon. Lithium batteries are heavy and blowers are heavy power consumers. A Stihl AR3000 battery on a BGA200 is as close as you can get currently. It has 21 newtons of force and a long run time, but it’s cumbersome and expensive. $1700-1800 all in before tax

I agree the pb 9010t would win the force test because of the how much power compared to most backpack blowers. My favorite blower is redmax 8550. That was not 1,000 cfm 220mph to me that was the ebz 8550.

I’ve had the echo, still, and husq. As much as stihl has built a name for it that blower was an absolute hunk of junk. Was awful to start, ran like crap when it did start, and the think fell apart within a few months of moderate usage. Definitely will be sticking with my husq.

The sales guy demonstrated the raw power of the 8010 by pushing a brick across the shop parking lot. "Sold" I said. However, I never counted on the thing constantly trying to spin me clockwise...it's got so much grunt that I really have to work to keep it under control. 6ft 225lb male, so I'm no small fry. For outright raw power...the Echo has it.

StihlBR800X is the better overall with those results especially fuel efficiency. You’d need to factor vibration to the user as well, but I’m gathering there’s not much of a difference, surprised Redmax was the dearest of them all. Warranty and services would need to be considered as well.
