For Snog, Marry, Avoid - they'd show the public a photo of the person with all their fakery and would ask, "Would you snog, marry or avoid, this person?" - usually 90% would be avoid, 10% snog. Then they have the make-under... and show the public the new look and ask the same question, and it would be around 60% snog, 40% marry.

Apparently the American show was based on a British show also called what not to wear, but they were both on the BBC and what not to wear ended in 2007 and then this one started in 2008 so it feels like they might be related.
