Why has that book not been turned into a movie yet?? SERIOUSLY!
@mikeross88011 ай бұрын
That’s what I’ve been wondering for decades…ever since just after the novel was released. Such a good story and excellent character development. A film based on this would be a Bemmer’s dream come true. Much like “Christmas in Wonderland” was.

The Bay's public washrooms tile walls and floors have not changed at all. If u want to go back in time, go to their washrooms!!!

I remember that book. When I first moved to the city in Gr 6 and was attending Duggan Elementary. We had time to choose a book from the library. That one was my first book I pulled out and read.

I used to live in Edmonton back in 2002 to 2010. I loved The Bay store at WEM. I used to buy my suits, men’s leather dress shoes, and neckties there. I also remember the “mall rats” that used to hang around WEM. One night in September of 2009, I was confronted by one of these kids outside the mall in the parkade just outside the Bay. He asked if I wanted a sexual act done on me (a b.j.) for $20. When I told the boy to f-off, he kicked me really hard in the groin and ran off. Although I was gasping for air and reeling in excruciating pain, I didn’t want to go through the hassle and awkwardness of calling mall security, so I went home, dazed, hurt, and disoriented. I still remember that incident in the parking lot of the Bay very clearly. It happened on September 30, 2009. It was a mild fall night. I was really surprised because the boy who asked me if I wanted a b.j. for $20 (and kicked me) was only about 13 or 14 years-old. Pretty unusual and gutsy for his age! I can still pinpoint the exact spot where it happened if I went back there today. Parkade 26-A, next to The Bay, West Edmonton Mall. 😩

Oh my gosh!! Finally seeing someone who knows of that book series and author! That makes me so happy, cause I know next to no one who remembers them. Also I'm surprised that luggage store has been there for so long. Then again it makes sense since it's one of those stores I've always seen there.

I've got that one too. And Vancouver Nightmare, Murder on the Canadian... I believe they were available through a book order list we had in grade 5 to 8. Code Red at The Supermall was later, maybe 1988, when I was in grade 12. I believe I got it at Coles at WEM that year, just because it used WEM as the story location.

I worked at Caesars Bingo from 95 to 99.. pretty sure that place is in the top five.. You should do a video on the current Casino location.. back to when it was Goose Loonies and later the Lucky 11 pool hall! That would be cool to see!! Great video! Keep up the great work!

Seeing that footage of WEM from the 1980's maybe also Tacotime in the Phase I food court. I think that was always there too... I wish we all had access to those wicked old mall guides they used to print every quarter...

Fond memories of eating at the cafeteria that used to be in The Bay! Department stores don’t have restaurants anymore!

It seems Luggage Unlimited only moved from their original location by the Bay just a year or two ago to the Phase 1 south corridor.

My brother worked in phase 1, at Giovanni Yamaha, and has seen that store move out of the mall, Giovanni retire, and he took over the store. It's now Amadeus Music. He took me thru the tunnels once when he was on a break, to get to the food court.

One of these days I just wanna take a walk through WEM and visit all the locations that were featured in this book in order of how they appear in the story. Volleyball at the Waterpark anybody? (Hint: it’s the last thing the main characters are doing just before the novel’s climax.)

didn't hudson's bay get removed within the last year, I recall going to a sale there where the store was pretty much 99.999% bare and getting a pair of sweats marked down from like $30, only paying $5 for them
