A bus is the closest thing to a tank on the road. Crashing into one is like crashing into Chuck Norris. Only you suffer damage.

Deadliest road accident in Finland happened to bus. Turns out the bus isn't much of a tank when going head against 1800lbs industrial paper roll goes trough the cabin at the speed of 80mph (bus and truck were both traveling 40)

Fun Fact: This episode is actually a parody/retelling of an old Star Trek episode called "Dagger of the Mind".

The Latin Saying at the entrance to the Planetarium roughly translates to "Send me up, Scotsman" which would be like a latin version for "Beam Me Up Scotty", it's another Star Trek Reference.

My high-school found the perfect way for all the teens to stay seated on the bus. The driver we had was half blind, half pure roadrage and half had no license. When the lady ignores half the stop signs, clips mailboxes, makes the tires screech everytime she brakes and drives on the sidewalks.. children don't even want to get up and screw around 😂 And that was only 20years ago

2:00 School buses nowadays do have seat belts. At first they were just ones that go around your waist and now is upgraded to like a car seat belt.

Design and Safety Features: School buses, in particular, are designed with safety in mind. They are built with high-backed, padded seats that create a protective compartment around passengers. This design, known as "compartmentalization," is intended to protect children without the need for seat belts. Different Safety Standards: Buses are larger and heavier than cars, and they distribute crash forces differently. The elevated position of bus passengers and the structural integrity of buses make them inherently safer in collisions compared to smaller vehicles. Emergency Evacuations: In case of an emergency, quickly evacuating a bus full of passengers can be critical. Seat belts could potentially slow down the process and make it more difficult for passengers to exit the vehicle quickly. Cost and Practicality: Installing seat belts in all buses would be a significant expense. Additionally, ensuring that all passengers, especially children, consistently wear seat belts and use them correctly can be challenging. Statistics and Research: Studies have shown that school buses are among the safest modes of transportation for children. The rate of serious injuries and fatalities on school buses is lower compared to other types of vehicles, which supports the current safety standards in place.

Yea, if you had watch in order i think you view on characters would be different. Like Garrison, you see him acting far more normal now. Go back 10 years and you watch a episode of him getting fired for kiddy things it ruins the development his character went thru ya know. But all in all you've had great reactions to the show.

I feel you about the school bus seatbelt thing. I've seen kids get launched on the bus. It doesn't help that a lot of people like to stand up for some reason. And I've definitely felt like I ruptured a ball after hitting a pothole a few times. 🤣

Cartman being stoked about his brief appearance on a Cheezy Poofs commercial kinda reminds me of Spongebob believing he rose to stardom after only parts of his head and not his face were briefly seen on a Krusty Krab commercial. 😂

Mainly it's because of certain types of crashes. Your average school bus frame and drive train are far heavier than the cab. If a bus was hit in such a way that it was flipped onto its back, the cab would be crushed. It's thought that if kids have to take the time to deal with getting a seatbelt off they could become trapped in the cab in a short time. If that happens you need firefighters with the Jaws of Life to carve the bus open to get to the kids out.

One of the few episodes in which Cartman snuck off to do something he wanted to do turned out to not only be a smart choice, but also dodged a bullet. Kind of like the episode where he dragged poor Butters to a Super Phun Thyme while Pioneer Village was being held hostage. Cartman did state a fact in that episode that “life is short, Butters. If you don’t look around and do what you want, you could miss out.” I really should’ve taken Cartman’s advice a month ago, and ditched lame-ass work to, maybe meet the Karate Kid himself, hopefully get his autograph, and see him get his star on the Walk Of Fame. 🤩

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's because you have a the back of a big padded seat in front you that you don't really need seat belts. Then you have the logical nightmare of making sure all the kids wear them, good luck with that. And in terms of the event of an emergency evacuation seat belts might actually slow things down, which is something you don't want.

For buses it’s safer if there aren’t seat belt so evacuation can happen faster in the case of a crash. Especially for little kids who might not know how to get out in an emergency situation where panic might set in

I went to a planetarium on a field trip a few times when I was in kindergarten. It was a lot like this. And apparently technology has gotten at least a Lil better cause I never saw any laser shows at them but then when I saw this episode in middle school I heard that it was really a thing. One of them north of Atlanta was actually doing them. I haven't been in since I was a kid so I would guess that the ones that make better money would naturally have better tech. Still I liked it.

Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were the most famous film critics of all-time (and trademarked the famous thumbs and and thumbs down rating system), and peaked in popularity and cultural impact as a duo in the 90s. So they were obvious, easy targets for early South Park. After Gene's passing in 1997, he appeared as a background character in Hell in the early seasons and also appeared in the movie, where with a gag at his expense. Ebert initially gave the South Park film a negative review, having also given negative reviews to two of Parker/Stone's previous movies (Orgazmo, BASketball). But, to his credit, before his death in 2011, Ebert eventually came around on South Park, later recommending home video releases of the show and changing his mind on the film, saying that although he was at first put off by what he perceived as mean-spirited humor, subsequent viewings on home video made him realize that it was very good satire.
