My favorite character: Eda: Magical, Sassy, Surprisingly Foxy for her age. But most importantly, her curse is a fabulous metaphor for a chronic illness or mental disability. As someone with high functioning Autism, I constantly wonder how my special needs will affect my life. And while all my family and friends are super accepting and important parts of my life, I still like seeing a realistic and relatable depiction of someone with needs like Eda. Eda is a role model in the way she doesn’t let her curse stop her from living her life to the fullest

What you've described seems to be the trope "Demoted to Satellite Love Interest." Lumity is nice and refreshing for not being just another prolonged "will they, won't they/get coupled in the last scene" type of romance, but I didn't want either one just to be nothing but the other's girlfriend for the rest of the show. Especially considering Amity used to be friends with Willow and was Lilith's student, but they haven't done anything with that since. The other characters of color also seemed to be neglected.

I think Milo Murphy's Law did this kind of stuff better. Amanda Lopez didn't get a ton of episodes (especially in Season 1B, in which she's only a background character), but the writers decided to evolve her relationship with Milo with Season 1A's "Smooth Opera-tor" onwards. In this, and the previous episode "Party of Peril", it is revealed that Amanda doesn't particularly like hanging out with Milo because her strife for perfectionism (or, a case of OCD) clashes with Milo's condition of Murphy's Law. But, "Smooth Opera-tor" _also_ reveals Milo has a crush on Amanda, and is willing to prevent any kind of disaster just so Amanda can have a perfect, chaos-less evening at an opera show. Murphy's Law strikes time and time again, but Milo manages to save the show by taking over for one of the actors (who left by himself) and improvising a neat ending with the other actors, impressing Amanda. Milo similarly fixes and improves Amanda's carefully orchestrated school dance after she reached a point of despair during a blackout in "School Dance". Amanda finds out by finding Milo's lost loafer Cinderella-style, and despite spurning Milo's offers to help her out, or relax and dance, she realizes Milo doesn't always make everything worse like she thought, and is thus again impressed. In Season 2's "Cake 'Splosion!", Milo and Amanda are invited to participate as a team in a middle school episode of Cake 'Splosion, an extreme baking competition show, and Amanda's favorite show to boot. While initially thrilled, Amanda gets nervous as soon as she realizes she has to work with Milo. In spite of her fears, Milo does a wonderful job protecting the cake they are baking together during the contest, and it's her that offers Milo to stay with her in the final round (as Milo was about to leave, to ensure nothing goes wrong with the cake). When it seems like they lost, Amanda wasn't disappointed or angry, but explains to Milo this was the most fun she ever had. And when it turns out they did win after all, she tackle-hugs Milo. "Managing Murphy's Law" then makes it obvious that Amanda reciprocates Milo's crush by kissing him on the cheek (and _presumably_ having planned everything for his friend's benefit concert just to hang out with him). Since then, Amanda also makes a cameo in "Spy Little Sister!" after Milo and Joni seemingly had a moment, as she seethes with rage and violently shakes Joni shouting that Milo is hers; and she also appears in "Ride Along Little Doggie" as Milo is nominated for a school award, as she's excited to attend it, cheers on when Milo wins said award, gets worried when Milo is stuck in the basement, and eventually gives him the award herself after the show is over, rewarding him with another kiss. And yet, Amanda has _not_ been reduced to being nothing more than Milo's girlfriend. Since "Managing Murphy's Law", Amanda does occasionally hang out with Milo and his friends, but is not thinking about being with Milo while still contributing to the plot. In "Cast Party", Milo, Melissa and Amanda notice that Zack is completely bummed out due to a recent accident, and it was Amanda's idea to throw a party for Zack to cheer him up, even bringing along a chart that would indicate how happy Zack is. And in her last appearance of Season 2, "Parks and Wreck", she and Melissa get ultra competitive about who can clean up one side of the park the best, eventually realizing their bickering made everything worse and that they should work together instead of against each other. Her relationship with Milo was not the focus of these episodes at all, and references to said relationship in these episodes are rather subtle in comparison to episodes like "School Dance" or "Cake 'Splosion". Amanda Lopez has gone through a nice character development; her opinion on Milo has improved a ton that she now loves Milo back, yet she still remains her own character. It's quite different from Amity Blight, who went from a mean bully who used to be Willow's friend, to not really being anything but Luz's "awesome" girlfriend... who completely overshadows Willow and Gus.

It’s the reason it ticks me off when people say it’s a “progressive lgbt relationship” amity basically exists now to be arm candy. I will forever cite Yasha and Beau from critical role as the best lgbt pairing I’ve seen because both characters are more than just their sexuality. Marisha and Ashley wrote them as characters first and foremost. Yes Beau was a flirt but it wasn’t the end all of her personality. It also grates on me because I’m positive if luz was a guy and this was a heterosexual relationship people would hate Lumity.

They might have been able to give Amity more depth even with the cuts. For example, have Willow and Amity search for the Titan's Blood in "Eclipse Lake". Instead of having Amity prove that she's "an awesome girlfriend", she could try to reestablish a relationship with Willow. After all, they left things open ended at "Understanding Willow", it would have been interesting if they had an episode dedicated to their relationship because their moments together are mostly relegated to a B-Plot. Not to mention it could have shed some light to a few unanswered questions. For example, "Understanding Willow" implies that Amity pushed Willow away to protect, but in "I was a Teenage Abomination" Amity singles Willow out for being sub-par to the point of calling her "half a witch" and neither her gang nor her parents are around, which seems to contradict the point. And that nickname certainly affected Willow a lot because she was tearing up when she called herself that in "Any Sport in a Storm". So, how was Amity protecting Willow by calling her that?

Yeah I feel like the owl house crew had this idea for amity, to go from school bully/perfectionist to a friend/girlfriend. However, in season 2 Gus had one episode all about himself (trying to figure if he still wanted to be an illusionist wizard) and Willow hasn’t had much attention. People only say that Willow is a boring character because the show literally doesn’t give Willow much to do in an episode. I love amity as much as the next person, but I also want to focus on more the side characters/secondary characters.

Exactly and even if they DO appear, they almost don't do squat (for the sake of the plot where they have to be on the sides for the main characters to shine). Escaping Explosion and Eclipse Lake show us Gus and Willow, but they don't even do much! They got held back by the Abomination 'guards' in EE when Willow could had (easily) overpowered them, and during the whole fight showing off Amity and Luz, where the heck were they? I nearly forgot they were there until the end of the episode. Don't get me started on Eclipse Lake, they were suppose to look after Luz, but got swept away listening to 'music tracks for Luz' (even them giving her soup before Eda and co. returned back felt like "oh they were suppose to be a part of the episode, nearly forgot! Just slot them near the end!" last minute idea). I literally read people skipping through Gus' episode because "they were just there for the Lumity", it's maddening and sad at the same time that most of the side characters (I mean, they weren't exactly given a chance to truly shine, so kinda understand why they get overlooked) and even the lore get lost to Lumity.

I have only TWO issues with Amity and they're...a little small. 1. While we now understand WHY she acted so cold in the past, her behavior towards Luz after their first meeting (before she became Purple Amity) was rather unfair. For example, her whole assumption about Luz thinking it was "easy" being a witch was a HUGE red flag; especially since she seldom got to see the indignities Eda put Luz through before she FINALLY decided to send her to Hexside. 2. It seemed odd that she started acting so nice towards Luz after Lost in Language. Of course, it's unknown how many days have passed between those events and Adventures in the Elements

I kind of blame this on lumity, but not in the way you think. I feel like, the crew was so focused on lumity, that they wanted to make a point like "hey, this is happening, deal with it." A lot of people say Lumity felt kind of rushed and I can see it.. but I think they were going for the type of ship that gets together before the last season. Remember, they shortened its last season, so I feel like they wanted to get the Romance out of the way so they could focus more on the story for season 2B and season 3. But that just creates another issue, which is of course, Amity and Lumity take the spotlight yet again. Don't get me wrong, Lumity is a great ship, and I get we are all excited that wow, gay rep in a Disney show? Amazing. But we shouldn't let it take all the attention because one, there are other characters, and two, it can ruin the fandoms reputation and make it get hated on, which is already happening.

That’s what happens when you treat lgbt people as fashion labels and don’t write them as actual people… characters need to be characters first. For God sakes, the new opening is literally starts out with them just cramming it down the throat to the viewer that luz is bi and then she’s dating a girl. Oh good God, I was cringing, that’s not how you do representation you treat the characters as characters. By making a big deal about what their sexuality is, you’re insinuating, that these people existing is not normal, which is counterproductive to what they claim to want to achieve. This being from someone who is LGBT. I am so tired of being treated like we’re fucking fashion labels, a person, skin, color, or who they want to date, their gender is not the most defining thing of someone. Their personality is.

I know I’m late- but another point I wanted to throw in. Because Amity was the “villain/mean girl” character, she REALLY needed a redemption so she could stop being mean, become friends with Willow, Gus, and Luz, and then start showing romantic attraction for luz before asking her out. That’s a lot of redemption to do for a character. Because a lot of the characters have had development (sorta, at least), they honestly probably really wanted Amity to be basically seen as flawless, in a way at least. Cramming her down our throat was just a way to make her seem like she was rapidly getting better, but it felt like it was flowing too fast. This is kinda speculation and just what I’ve noticed, so if you disagree/want to add something, feel free to share. I’m not sure, just thought it was worth mentioning. (Oh, also, sorry if someone already got into detail about this in this comment thread).

No, you're totally on the mark! I don't think Luz should have even considered Amity as a romantic option until all things were PROPERLY wrapped up between Willow and Amity. The girl bullied and antagonized her for years; it seems pretty shady to turn around and go date the same person who hurt your very first friend. Also, the "reconciliation" between Amity and Willow was extremely rushed; Willow wasn't allowed to be angry or hesitant or even unwilling; the writers simply forced her to turn heal and let Amity back into her life lickity split. There was a lot about Amity's development that was rushed. If she wasn't depicted as such a horrid bully in her debut episode, maybe it wouldn't have come across as so... Forced, and maybe I'd feel more comfortable with Lumity.

At first this was something that I solely blamed the fandom for because it seems like at least 90% of the fandom only cares about Amity or her relationship with Luz. So much to the point where Amity steals the spotlight from Willow and Gus in BOTH of their own episodes and the fandom just eats it up with no complaints. I do think this is still a major problem with the fandom but I also can’t blame them considering how many times Willow and Gus and other characters are forced to the sidelines so Amity can have yet another moment to shine. As much as I love Amity I definitely agree that she seems to steal the spotlight from other characters. A great example as you stated was Thru the Looking Glass Ruins. When it starts off you assume it’ll be a Gus centric episode, it even starts after Gus and Willow have a fight of sorts (which I personally would’ve loved to see since it’s so weird to just start the episode in the middle/end of that). However that becomes the B plot as Amity and Luz get the main plot.

I personally don’t really like Amity. The representation over shadows her actual personality. Most people say they like her because they can relate….well what else? Do you like anything else about her? Also I am not saying this is for EVERYONE I’m saying most of the fans I see do this. Also I do think Amity is overrated, she gets to much phrase for…again what? Sure, she does have probably the best character development throughout the show, but that’s probably because it was an enemy to lovers trope. It’s like Catradora all over again. Same for the fandom’s perception of them, for example Luz and Amity are seen as the “Catra and Adora” and Gus and Willow the “Bow and Glimmer”. If you know the fandom, you know what I mean. Anyway, if you like her good for you, also please don’t go telling my opinion is wrong. I made another opinion on The Owl house, and someone legit went and told me my opinion WAS WRONG. According to me Amity shares same problem with whole series. Main threat and goals do not match very well with stories. In early concepts, Luz supposed to be trapped in Demon realm from beginning. This variant is more suitable for story with the emperor and the Titan, because of Luz had to seek way to home from beginning and it would be interesting to see Luz has to start Hexside, because of knowledge from school Library and this should be Amity´s plot line. For the story of young witch appretice is more suitable formula of Gravity Falls, when every episode has mostly independent story, but final of season is sum of results of previous stories. Plus, instead of emperor main storyline should be about Collector or Man of Glass. Sometimes story about saving yourself or your loved ones is same powerfull as story about saving the world. In real the Owlhouse we got both stories. Surprisingly, this choce could work better, if Eda was active at both sides of the portal. Meaning, if Eda had one shop in our world and second shop in Demon realm, then we, and writers, got some space for interesting stories from the both sides of the portal. For example, Yesterday´s lie, but during Young Blood, Old Souls. Or Amity´s help during the season 1 finaly, but then story line about how she makes way to Camila´s heart, because of Camila saw, how Amity destroying the portal.

Kid's media!) so I'm glad it exists, just wish they'd had the time/budget to space it out over maybe 3-4 seasons instead of feeling pressure to cram it into two and a few specials to make sure it exists at all.

Though I did make this before 2B and plus I just got into the show around this time when I first made this comment, plus listening to what some people in the fandom thought. Yeah I agree with this video fully. Listen, I love Lumity and I like how Amity develop well into a better person and standing against her toxic parents, but I feel like she does take the spotlight and how it feels sometimes she’s only cared for shipping her with Luz. Like Gus’s episode “Through The Looking Glass” was about him and the Luz/Amity was a side plot(Though I do love the new lore and kiss in the episode), I came in for a awesome episode about Gus which I got, but it was overshadowed by Lumity. Personally I think the Lumity side plot should’ve been an full episode itself to explore more of the library and still have the special moment at the end. I kind of disagree. I felt like the show was respecting the intelligence of its viewers to understand that the world of The Owl House is still moving even if we aren't watching it directly: That between Luz lending Amity her book and getting it back, that they interacted off-screen and became friendlier. That sometime before Luz starts school, something clicks in Amity that sparks her confusing feeling for Luz. Etc. I will say, though, that maybe I misread them, but I felt there were a couple times bully-Amity felt out of character upon repeat viewings; specifically when she's being pro-actively mean. The scenes in question are when Amity picks on Willow when they are by themselves (when we meet them for the first time), and the Penstagram posts where she's insulting Luz unprovoked.

I know this might sound bad, but as of the season 2 finale, I have to admit that I feel like Amity is the best written/handled in episodes where her relationship with Luz isn't that big of a focus? Like as long as she keeps a high grade then she is kind of allow to whatever she's wants. It would have hit different if we got to see that necklace glow whenever she made a decision at the beginning of the show to give it a little more depth. And Amity talisman could have been a moment where she's makes a goal for herself or maybe change her goal. I said this 1. We still don't really know why she wants to be in the emperor covenant 2. A lot of people in covenant are kind of bad people so, that might change her ideas, they have come at her friends and try to kill them a lot.

I felt like if there were any character development happened to Amity to have a change of heart, it happened off screen. Her attraction to Luz never made sense to me. Also, felt like her presence took away screentime for other characters to florish that at this point, I assume that Luz started back to square one: She's as friendless as she was back home BUT HEY at least she has a girlfriend who seems to base her character growth and role in the story on Luz. I can never forgive the writers for taking a gus episode and made it about Luz and Amity because that's all anyone remember that episode to be about. You're right.Once again, this is a good analysis video. A lot of people do talk about how great Amity but we shouldn't ignore what she did wrong, her flaws or what could be done better. Regardless of her age, she still chose to do it. Plus, in her intro episode, even though I think she was a bit much in how she treated Willow, I think the Abomination teacher was unfair to both Amity and Willow. I tolerate Willow cheating only because if she failed, that would have given her classmates MORE reason to hate her(More evidence that high school is a social nightmare) and Luz gets to meet Gus and Willow and get a tour of Hexside. Amity became a top student through hard work after acing MULTIPLE assignments. You're right about the show handled Amity moving away from Boscha and Skara, they could have done better and it's weird that we don't see how her parents feel about that here and now. Sure, Odalia showed us in "Escaping Expulsion" but none of them bring up Boscha and Skara.

But, yeah, the show does not really give Willow and Gus much development aside from arguably "Understanding Willow" and "Through the Looking Glass Ruins." I totally agree. The main issue that a lot of what OP is talking about is the time constraints. You can't develop every single character in 2 and a 1/4 seasons. Sacrifices have to be made. The development of some of the side characters is the one they chose. Honestly, even if I might be hated for saying this, I'm fine with that. Supporting characters aren't the main focus nor they ever should be. Expecting Amity's former clique to get the same amount of screentime as her is ridiculous. There are lot more important things in the story than that like King's father, Eda bonding with her sister and taking down Belios. But I agree in the sense that I wish Willow and Gus got a couple more episodes to themselves, but it is what is. I think that if the creators had a full season to work with, then a lot of these problems would be mitigated. So, yeah. Op has some valid points, but agree to disagree.

In the episode "Understanding Willow" she burns Willow memory of them as a kids because she doesn't want to associate with her later on it revealed in the end is that the reason she ended her friendship with Willow's because her parents pressured her to do so and while that explain why she did what she did back then, the problem is that it still doesn't explain or justify why she felt the need to go after Willow as a bully. In the first scene we're introduced to her she pick on Willow in private with absolutely nobody else around. She wasn't pressured by her parents, she wasn't trying to impress her friend, she did it purely because she wanted to bully Willow cause she's a bully and "Understanding Willow" doesn't do enough to adress that issues with Amity instead they're content enough to give a sad explanation as to why Amity did a thing long before the actual events of the story and then sweep her recent action under the rug and then 2 episode later she has apparently improved so much as a person that she decided to confront Boscha and says "I used to be like you Boscha. Obsessed with status, challenging my competition. But i grew up when will you?" Let me reiterate. She was so scared of being associated with Willow so much so that she burns Willow's memory of her just 2 episode ago with the episode in between dealing more with the relationship with Luz than her overcoming her obsession with status, she talk as if she undergone this huge character arc when she really hasn't. Part of the reason why i think her transformation from a bully to a friend felt rushed is because the show prioritize setting up the romance between her and Luz over her own character arc.

Yeah I like Amity but not in her first few appearances, I'm a big lumity fan but it's hard to look back at who she was. She accused Luz of embarrassing and ironically "bullying" her, even though she barely did anything and it felt like Amity didn't think about Luz and in certain cases Willow's perspective. It seemed to me like they cheated so Willow can pass a class she's struggling in, get respect from her peers and have Amity stop picking on her, and for Luz she wanted her to apologize to King for smashing his cupcake, was afraid to give up her dream of becoming a witch, and the fear of the possibility of Amity killing her in the dual. Her calling Luz a bully seemed pretty hypocritical and ignored her own prior behavior andtreatment. I mean in her first few appearances she nearly got luz dissected over a badge and nearly forced her to give up magic and possibly beat her up during the witches duel. She went along with the duel knowing that humans can't do magic and lashed out at Luz after being caught cheating by accident just to show superiority over Luz. I'm not trying to put any hate on Amity, but I feel like her redemption was underwhelming and didn't really take accountability for her actions in early season 1. Luz was trying to make amends with her, and Amity's cold attitude made her see Luz as the bad guy. She may have had a hard up bringing considering her family life and "friends" but that doesn't mean it's okay to tear others down to make you feel better. Before Luz came along Amity was essentially her own worst enemy and falling for her really helped Amity become a better person.

About the dissection Amity didn't knew what the abomination was but Not a real one Willow knew it but she would dissect Luz had she say yes you can do it even then they find out the truth instead of telling the truth. Amity have a right to didn't like Luz at the Beginning because of her Action and Luz lie even After they found out she cheated again in the Duell. Amity was Cold but did Nothing in both ep3 and 5 until somthing Happen in 3 befor the teacher Take her Top Student Star she would go away in ep5 she wanted to get away but Luz didn't let her and with the bet on the Duell luz would maybe let Amity alone. Even then Luz didn't want it her Action and how it End it is easy to see this as Bullying because only Amity look bad in the End. @@marcelyuzuki6376 ok I see your point, but remember Luz never meant any harm towards Amity, and was trying to make up with her. Yes Luz and Willow did cheat during the Abomination class, but they weren't trying to take Amity's badge, Willow just wanted to pass her class for once and the teacher just gave it to her because he was easily impressed. Willow probably thought that cheating was the only way to pass, have Amity stop bullying her and gain respect from her fellow students. Also during the witches duel, even though it's known that humans can't do magic she was relentless in beating Luz just to prove some form of superiority. She didn't have to make Luz give up magic but did it because she saw Luz as beneath her, even when Luz was trying to comfort her after accidentally cheating. It wasn't Luz's fault for those incidents, it was done by authority figures and how bad Amity reacted and handled those situations. She was the one to make a scene in the school cafeteria after catching the "Abomination" eating a sandwich instead of talking to the teacher about her suspicions. She could've let it go, and worked hard to get the badge back, but her pride made her unhealthily obsessed with getting it back and prove Willow's cheating. Her need to be perfect kept her from establishing real relationships and being happy. Besides she was patronizing Willow in her first appearance, despite previously being her best friend, you could say it was her way to "encourage" Willow to do better but there is no excuse for treating people terribly, this also goes for whenever Luz was trying to talk to her to make things right. It seemed like she didn't think about why they cheated and assumed that Luz was just out to make her look bad. She saw the worst in others because she grew up around bad people. Before becoming Luz's friend, Amity was a condescending snob with superiority complex, but she eventually realize how she acted around her and Luz was never trying to humiliate her. Luz isn't responsible for Amity's problems and in my opinion Amity has been the source of her own suffering and took it out on others so she wouldn't have to deal with the pain or her flaws and struggles. Again I'm not trying to be a hater, but it's just hard for me to look back at who she used to be and be ok with it.

Maybe me connecting with Luz came from some better understanding when I looked back and started to look at the other boys perspective. I mean sure we see Amity feel bad about what she did, but sympathy and empathy are two different things, I don't know if she actually took the time to see things from Luz's p.o.v. like Luz did for her. I hate when people say that The Owl House is "perfect", since for me it has several defects in the narrative that are annoying, Willow and Gus deserved to have their own episodes, but whenever we thought it was going to happen, or Amity or Hunter were always there to steal the show from them, Amity's redemption arc could have been a little more working, the 1st season could show her trying to prove to Luz and the others that she is slowly changing and if becoming friends with them and the 2nd season could focus on her and Luz trying to establish a romantic relationship and having their problems and it could continue like this until the end of the 3rd season and after the timeskip implies that their relationship has improved after 4 years, the arc Lilith's redemption should have received more attention, instead of kicking her out in episode 4 of season 2, they could use half of season 2 to make her redeem herself with Luz, King, Amity, including Eda, because I I feel like we only had this with the character Hooty, the antagonists Odalia, Kikimora, Terra could have been more than that, but at the end of the season they are all summarized as unnecessary stones in the main plot, instead of redeeming the Hunter, until the episode 16 of the 2nd season he could have become irredeemable until he discovered the truth about Belos and something else, instead of making all the copies of Caleb betray Belos (which I thought was really stupid and I wanted to know who decided that in the script, some could have had defects or could have been incompetent and Hunter would be the first perfect copy, which would motivate the handsome man to try to kill him and return to Hunter, instead of him joining the Luz group and stealing everyone's holosources due to the favoritism of the writers, he could ask Darius for help and as Darius met the other copy of Caleb, he would agree to help him (knowing that he is only a 16 year old teenager) and little by little the two could develop a friendship (since Darius has not yet I liked him at the beginning), and in the end the Hunter would become an independent character instead of being with the others, adding the Collector near the end of the series was a bad choice, since Belos was the main threat and in "For the future" he has his holosources stolen just because they had to develop the child of the stars, we could have had more things than that final fight (not to mention that instead of him dying in the end, he could have been condemned to some kind of eternal suffering which would spread its mistakes from the past), in "For the future" exclude the subplots of Boscha and Kikimora and take the opportunity to focus on things from the past of the boiling islands, all of this was just my negative criticism

Also maybe Luz might have few points added (before she fully realised she had a crush on luz) bc she is just Amity's type (both in looks and character). One of if not THE best Owl House analysis video I've seen :) I truly don't understand why the crew felt the need to make Amity *so* spiteful in the first half of season 1--it made her character arc as a whole far less believable, because she had such a long way to go in very little time. I've always felt unsettled by how easily the majority of viewers could get past Amity--let's not sugar-coat it--repeatedly bullying Willow in season 1A. Just because her parents said Amity couldn't hang out with Willow, didn't mean she had to actively torment her, even when nobody (to her knowledge) was watching. Then in 1B, 'Understanding Willow,' Amity deflects the blame onto her parents and her friends, and doesn't fully own her actions--the first step in any meaningful apology. I guess because of time constraints in season 2, the fallout from that was never addressed properly--just little snippets of Willow and Gus and Amity patching things up as sidenotes in other episodes--which personally leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth about Lumity and Amity's arc in general. I personally quite like where Amity has ended up personality-wise, but because Amity's sour-to-sweet turnaround was *so* dramatic, it made those who liked her mean edge in season 1 feel hard-done-by too. You mention that Gus and Willow kind of got sidelined in favour of Amity... I truly have to agree there. As a couple of other commenters have observed I think the crew couldn't quite decide whether they wanted to make Gus and Willow main or side characters, and when their episodes got cut by Disney, it made that indecision all the more obvious. That's to say nothing of the fandom favouritism for Amity (and then Hunter) which only accentuates it more :''') On that note, I would adore seeing a video from you spotlighting Willow, Gus or both of them!

Eh, given how pressed they are to finish the story on a time crunch, I think they’re doing the best they can. Amity’s crush on Luz did feel kind of rushed to me, but I know I’m prone to say that about a lot of romances, and it could also be the implication that time is occurring off screen. Do I wish they showed it more? Yeah. But I’m not sure they had time, necessarily, and I think what we got is tolerable. As for taking up more attention, I actually completely see why they did it. For a story whose overarcing theme is finding and being yourself, I think Amity has the most to offer narratively. It makes sense to me that if they have to cut something, they’d cut Willow and Gus. I like Willow especially and Gus is fine, but what part of their stories truly furthers the main theme in a big way? Sure, more focus on Willow’s arc on self-actualizing despite bullying would be wonderful to watch and I’d like to see more of her in general, but did she have enough to make the triage? I think Amity’s does because we see in her diary that the stuck-up mean girl isn’t /really/ who she is, and later that she’s being pressured by her parents and Luz (is theoretically the other two, I definitely feel your point there) is helping her be more who she is. That’s great narrative fodder, and Hunter is interesting in this regard too with his parallels to Amity regarding his relationship with Emperor Belos. Now, I do /absolutely/ want to see Amity interacting with Gus and Willow more for them to feel like a more cohesive group, even with the shortened run time. All the same, as far as focus characters, if they have to cut something, I worry the themes might feel scattered and distracted if we chose Gus or Willow over Amity. I agree that it’s not perfect, but they’re doing the best they can, and I still like it (especially since Amity did still get further characterization in Eclipse Lake) - and maybe that ends up with me landing in the same boat as you ^^. They’ll have to be careful, sure, but I have at least some hope it’ll work out.

Disclaimer, not trying to claim that the creators/writers of the show are racist at all. I’m sure this wasn’t the intention/intentional, but both Willow and Gus happen to be main-ish characters of color and they are sidelined and that’s kinda eeeeeee eck. ESPECIALLY since they are being pushed to the side for Amity, a white character. Now, Luz IS the main character and she’s a person of color so it’s not THAT bad but let’s not pretend that people of color are a monolith, Gus and Willow are still different races from Luz. (Don’t come at me from the ‘they aren’t even human they’re witches’ angle because they are all CLEARLY racially coded, tho not stereotyped I don’t think, and that argument would be downright stupid). Plus I’ve heard that certain parts of the fandom can be racist sometimes? Though ive heard this secondhand since i don’t participate in the fandom so take that w a grain of salt.

Honestly, I kinda wish Amity remained as a tsundere. Not mean, but keeps her haughty "You're such an idiot" attitude, but with a small but noticeable kindness underneath the surface. Imagine Luz thanking Amity for her help, Amity blushes, but turns away while saying "Well, I just couldn't stand to see you make a fool of yourself... but you're welcome. I-I guess." But yeah, while I think Luz and Amity are a cute couple, I feel it's somewhat forced and Amity is now just "Luz's girlfriend" and their relationship is basically "We're girlfriends". I was also kinda bothered how, in that sports episode, Amity is basically just a blabbering, blushing mess when it comes to Luz, despite the fact they've interacted several times before. As a brief aside, there was one scene in that episode where Luz first enrolls in school, going through the secret passages. She spies in Luz, who is freaking out and it's heavily implied to be because Luz is attending and how it "doesn't change anything" or something similar. I believe that to be an early hint at Amity's crush on Luz. Also, that whole subplot about Amity thinking Luz will dump her for not getting Titan's Blood was weird, considering, well, Luz never seemed like the person who would do that. As a whole, while I find it cute, the relationship felt forced and undeserved like Yang and Blake in RWBY, Star and Marco in Star Vs, and Korra and Asami in Legend of Korra.

Now i undertand what you say. and is the same problem that have with all the show , the say something but later become in a contradiction. and i never see about this until this day because was a background character and is truth all the action of skara are a contradiction is the idea of is a bad person but she don´t noting wrong oh really bad like bosha that all the school forget all is bad action . the same can a say about other characters, until this day i don´t belive that friendship about willow and amithy ,yes was that episode of the past but after that, is relation is more like they know each other(why she no try to save willow of bosha in that game? but when is luz in danger she going first ) , why the mother of amithy don´t care after that episode all the change of amithy (yes they say is become angry but she never see) new hair, she talk again to willow oh and luz she say is weird but nothing that she made is weird in fact in some episodes she dislikes thing of that word but is another story i really like amithy and is was cute that relationship but is going to be tired that is words oh amity .- i am the girlfriend of luz only quirk great work

One More Think you say Amity steal the spotlight and you want to knew More of other charackters but at the same time want you even More Amity to Understand her Motivation better. I Think it is Good enough to Understand why Amity Fall for Luz but i have Nothing more Information but as long as we don't get the show from Amity's Perspektiv we don't get the answers sadly.

Other interesting characters like willow and gus get overshadowed just so amity (and her crushing on Luz) can shine and it's pretty annoying

Fandom also come into play. There's white favoritism where fans view white side characters over the main poc protagonist. I see fans calling Amity or Hunter the main character

I agree that some people do it because of white favouritism and that should be thing that should end in the fandom. But some people do it because they like hunter and amity be the because of character development.

There's no one saying that lol. No one cares that amity's white your making stuff up. Plus no one thinks hunter is the main character

It is obvious Luz is the main character. The fandom does suffer from White favoritism. People were hating on Camilla for sending Luz to camp but people were simpjng for Odalia even though she emotionally manipulates Amity with the psychic necklace.

I personally do like how the show has been handled so far, I do love seeing Amity & Luz become closer & closer together. I'm a simple man.

Well, you didn't break my heart. Because I disagree with your opinion and it matters little to me. I mean sure the show is not perfect, but it doesn't need to be for me, I think its great as it is. And I love Amity just as she is.
